From 12th to 19th August 2026, twelve participants in the 11th Oxford Muslim-Christian Summer School journeyed together to explore differences between their respective faiths with integrity and respect.

During a time when religion and state can contribute to fallout and conflict, the Muslim and Christian students at the Summer School navigated each other’s expectations and definitions of law and the state.

Here is a look back at the Faith and Creativity workshop. Muslims and Christians channeled their understanding of faith into art, demonstrating to each other visually how they conceptualize their faith through music, drama, poetry, and art across different media.

Our 2026 cohort had to say goodbye to one another today after a week of living together, tackling difficult issues, and making memories.

One student shared, "I was worried coming in. I am not a specialist in the field. I am one of the youngest people here. I think colleagues from all over–from different fields, from different walks of life coming together, sharing our passion for religion, for God, for shared dialogue, has been something that has been life-changing for me."

Thank you to all our Summer School alumni and trustees who joined us at our gala dinner this previous Saturday to listen to a lecture on Saints & Pilgrims co-presented by Syed Jaafar al-Hosseini al-Milani and Dr Scott Thomas and break bread together.

Following the Mosque visit on Friday, the Christian students were able to welcome Muslims to attend a church service in order to better understand how Christians gather to worship on Sunday and then go punting together in Oxford.

During the lecture and seminar on Saturday morning, Muslims and Christians reflected on women in Christian and Muslim history and in scriptures.

Today, the Christians at our Summer School were able to observe how their fellow Muslim participants worship by visiting mosques in Oxford and reflecting on their experiences with one another.

On a day with temperatures near 38 degrees, Muslims and Christians at this year’s Summer School reflected on creation and the environment, and on how our communities may work together to care for creation.
