Bayworth Chapel

Bayworth Chapel Baptist Chapel Our hall is regularly hired out to local musicians for rehearsals and also for monthly Parish Council meetings.

Originally set up in 1900 as a daughter church of New Road Baptist Church in Oxford we still operate as a Baptist Chapel in our tiny Hamlet of Bayworth, Sunningwell near Abingdon. We continue with church services albeit on an occasional basis, our traditional Christmas service is always packed out and is well supported by our local community. We keep in touch with the needs of our community by reg

ular interaction with our neighbours and through our weekly Friday afternoon 'Coffee & Cake' café. We also rent out some office space in order for us to balance the books and maintain our buildings.

I am fortunate to live and work in the beautiful parish of Sunningwell, which includes the villages of Bayworth, parts of Boars Hill, Long Furlong, and Sunningwell itself. We have an active and dynamic parish council, and after 14 years of dedicated service, our Parish Clerk is retiring. We're now looking for a new Parish Clerk to join our team. The Woodwards are running for two great charities this October!
Mike & Vanessa Woodward from Sunningwell may have come to running later in life, starting with the 5K Park Runs in Abingdon back in 2018, but they’ve been dedicated racers ever since.
This October, we’re both stepping up to new challenges: Mike will be running his first Half Marathon in Oxford on October 13th, and Vanessa will take on her first full Marathon in Abingdon on October 20th.
We’re raising funds for two important causes, SeeSaw and African Children's Fund - and we would be grateful for your support!
SeeSaw provides a grief support service for children, young people and their families anywhere in Oxfordshire, whether the death is sudden or expected, due to illness or accident, or for some other reason. We believe that with appropriate and timely support, bereaved young people will be able to face the future with hope and fulfil their potential despite a devastating loss.
You can sponsor Mike online via his Just Giving Page: https://www.justgiving.com/page/michael-woodward-1726345041784?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Fmichael-woodward-1726345041784&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share

The African Children's Fund's work with grassroots partners in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe in education and children’s rights is making a real difference to the lives of almost 4,000 children born into poverty every year. Helping children off the streets and into school gives them a chance to improve their lives and build a better future.

We hope you’ll consider sponsoring one of us in support of these wonderful causes. Your encouragement will mean the world to us as we push ourselves to the limit to reach our goals!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
Best wishes,
Mike & Vanessa

The parkrun initiative has been fabulous for physical and mental health these past few years and has got me feeling energetic and positive and even more ambitious to achieve things I've previously thought impossible. The Abingdon parkrun especially has been fantastic, made loads of new, supportive and encouraging friends and has inspired me to even take part in 10k races, the Eynsham 10k recently, was my first. I get a fantastic buzz from running alongside like minded enthusiastic people so to pin a real life goal to all this effort makes it all the more worthwhile..
