Oriel College Chapel

𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗶𝗿 is looking for singers of all voice parts for the 2023–24 academic year. Find out more about us and sign up for an audition here: https://forms.gle/7YetzYV3wSzVUmT6A

We’re a friendly and ambitious mixed-voice choir, comprising around 24 members. Singers can look forward to a moderate level of commitment, with one or two services each week during term-time: Evensong on every Sunday and Communion on most Wednesdays, both 6–7pm. Rehearsals are on Tuesday evenings, as well as immediately before each service. We’re proud to contribute to the chapel community at Oriel, one of the liveliest in the University.

There are often extra gigs, recordings and filming opportunities, and the year culminates in an annual European tour, with expenses generously covered by the College. Recent destinations and venues have included the Loire Valley (Chartres, Orléans and Blois Cathedrals), Rome (St Peter’s Basilica), and Prague (St Vitus Cathedral). In summer 2024, the choir will again be touring for a week, which you’ll be able to join us for.

As part of the choir, you’ll get to enjoy:
• performing a broad and diverse range of music
• singing in a beautiful and centrally located 17th-century college chapel
• free drinks and Formal Hall twice a week after each service
• a stipend of £45 per term, and opportunities for choral scholarships and exhibitions (singing lessons and money additional to the stipend)
• opportunities for choral scholarships and exhibitions
• participating in recordings, special services, and concerts (with the Oriel College Music Society)
• a fully funded international tour in summer 2024
• joining a lively social group!

Other perks include free formal dinner twice a week after services and a basic stipend of £45 per term.

Oriel College Chapel Choir is looking for singers of all voice parts for the 2021/22 academic year. Auditions are open to all – you don't have to be at Oriel to join us! Singers will need to be able to commit to a schedule of roughly seven hours per week.

We're a friendly mixed-voice choir of around 25 to 30 members. We sing two services each week during term time: Evensong on Sundays at 6 pm (rehearsal at 4 pm) and Communion on Wednesdays at 6 pm (rehearsal at 4:30 pm). We also rehearse on Tuesday evenings (7:15–8:45 pm), and sing a varied repertoire ranging from Lasso to Leighton and beyond. There are additionally occasional concerts and extra services to sing at throughout the year, and an annual tour to Europe to look forward to.

• singing in Oriel's beautiful 17th-century chapel
