TODAY’S ECLIPSE OF THE SUN — DON’T LET THE SON BE ECLIPSED
Today, across the UK, we are witnessing a remarkable partial eclipse of the Sun. For a brief moment, the Moon passes between us and the Sun, obscuring much of its light.
This rebinds us of the words of Jesus:
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12 (NIV)
An eclipse does not mean that the Sun has stopped shining. Something has simply come between us and its light.
And so it can be spiritually.
Sometimes the pressures of life, disappointments, success, relationships, possessions, worries and distractions can gradually come between us and Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
The Son has not stopped shining.
His love has not changed.
His promises have not failed.
His light has not gone out.
The question is simply: Has anything come between us and the Son?
As we witness the eclipse today, may it remind us to examine our lives and remove anything that is obscuring our relationship with Christ.
The Sun may be eclipsed today, but may the Son of God never be eclipsed in our lives.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. Keep walking in His light.
