Thank you to everyone who helped make ‘Tallis in Wonderland’ so successful this past weekend! A packed church greeted the final notes of Spem in alium with loud cheers for Will Dawes--the musical mastermind behind the event--along with the 80 singers and conductors, all giving their energy, time and expertise to a memorable day of extraordinary music-making in celebration of one of the giants of English choral music.

And we are especially grateful for the generosity of all those who have already donated to ensure that our wonderful tradition of choral music at Mary Mags can continue.

It is not too late to give and to help us reach our target! Visit our Just Giving page to donate and learn more: tinyurl.com/tallis2026

A little bit late for the beginning of Lent, but:

“What should I give up for Lent?” is a question many of us ask at the beginning of Lent. Fr Jonathan Jong thinks through this question in a reflection on Luke 4.1-13, medieval penitentials, and the Church Fathers’ thoughts about abstinence and almsgiving.

We are delighted to announce that Fr Jonathan Lewis-Jong has been appointed as the new Vicar of St Mary Magdalen, Oxford.

Many in our parish are already familiar with Fr Jonathan from his time with us as curate, where he served our community with warmth, wisdom, and generosity. He brings a rich blend of pastoral experience, theological depth, and a joyful commitment to the mission and ministry of Mary Mags.

We are very grateful to all who took part in the discernment and appointment process, and we look forward with joy and confidence to this new chapter in the life of Mary Mags.

We ask prayers for the parishes of Cocking with West Lavington, Bepton, and Heyshott as they prepare for their own interregnum.

Details of Fr Jonathan’s welcome service will be shared soon, and it is expected to take place in July. Please keep him, and our parish, in your prayers.
