This past Sunday, Adrian delivered a sermon titled "Empowered by the Spirit to See the Kingdom🏰," based on Acts 9:32-43. In this passage, we see the powerful works of God in the lives of Aeneas and Tabitha: one is healed from illness, and the other is raised from death. These events foreshadow the kingdom of God, offering a glimpse of Jesus’ victory over sin, suffering, and death. Through His own death and resurrection, Jesus reverses the curse of Genesis 3, declaring ultimate triumph over all brokenness.
🔴 The Kingdom Story Shapes the Way We View the World 👓 – When the kingdom of God breaks into this world, we witness supernatural, miraculous moments that serve as glimpses of what’s to come. These moments are like sneak previews—just as we might see a preview of a movie or show before it’s widely released, so too do we sometimes see glimpses of the kingdom. And when we do, we can say, “This is what it will be like when there is no more sickness, suffering, or death, and when God makes all things new.”
🟢 The Kingdom Story Shapes the Way We Pray for the World 🙏 – The Lord’s Prayer is a “new creation” prayer that reflects the tension of the “now and not yet.” It acknowledges the spiritual battles around us and the cry of creation for renewal. In praying “Your kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven,” we tap into the power of God’s vision for complete restoration and wholeness.
🔵 The Kingdom Story Shapes the Way We Live in the World 👞 – We are called not only to pray for God’s kingdom but also to live it out so that those around us catch glimpses of God’s kingdom here and now. This might look like a timely message, an act of mercy, a listening ear, a prayer offered, or standing up for justice. When we allow the kingdom of God to shape our actions, we become the hands💪 and feet 🦵of Jesus, bringing His love and hope to the world.
