This past Sunday, we began a mini-series entitled "Habakkuk: Living by Faith in a Troubled World." In the first message, Adrian shared a sermon titled "Questioning God," based on Habakkuk 1:1-2:1.
1. Bring Your Laments to God (1:2-4)
Habakkuk cries out to God, questioning His silence amid injustice. Like him, we are invited to bring our struggles honestly before God, trusting that He listens.
2. Trust That God Is Always at Work (1:5-11)
God responds, revealing that He is using the ruthless Babylonians to fulfill His purposes. Though His ways may be difficult to understand, Romans 8:28 reminds us that He works all things for good.
3. Live as People of Faith (1:12)
Habakkuk shifts from doubt to trust, reaffirming God’s sovereignty: “My God, my Holy One, my Rock.” Faith means trusting God’s character, even when we don’t understand His plan.
4. Embrace the Tension Between Now and the Not Yet (1:13-2:1)
Habakkuk chooses to wait and watch in faith. We, too, must trust God’s timing, knowing He is working for our ultimate good.
Conclusion:
Faith is not about having all the answers but trusting in who God is. Like Habakkuk, may we always return to God’s faithfulness.
