Pope Leo XIV has appointed Bishop Michael Router as Bishop of Derry following the retirement of Bishop Donal McKeown.

Today we give thanks for Bishop Donal's faithful leadership and service to the Diocese over the past twelve years, and we warmly welcome Bishop Michael as he begins this new chapter in the life of our Diocese.

In his first address, Bishop Michael spoke of humility, hope and trust in God. He reflected on listening, walking together in faith, renewing the Church through Christ, and serving those who feel distant, hurt or searching for meaning.
