2 sleep to go for this year but we need to keep the Saddleworth Whit Friday tradition marching on! 🎺🚶♂️
The Whit Friday Church Walks are the heartbeat of our villages - a cherished tradition that has brought our communities together for generations. Whether you take part, follow the brass bands, or line the pavements each year to cheer everyone on, you’ll know just how special this day is to Saddleworth.
Each Whit Friday morning, five processions make their way through Saddleworth before gathering at King George V Playing Fields in Uppermill for an open-air ecumenical service - a truly unique and much-loved local tradition.
Like many community events, rising costs for safety measures, insurance, and road closures are making it increasingly difficult to organise. To help keep the banners flying and ensure the walks continue for future generations, we’re aiming to raise part of the £7,000 needed through GoFundMe.
If you’re able to support us, no matter how small the donation, it would be hugely appreciated. Thank you for helping keep this wonderful Saddleworth tradition alive.
