Today we say a very fond goodbye to Reverend Sachin and his wonderful family as they begin the next chapter of their journey. ❤️

It has been a joy to welcome you into our Dobcross community. We have especially loved seeing you embrace and become part of those very special days and traditions that can only truly be experienced here in Saddleworth, from our church celebrations to the wonderful occasions when our villages come together in faith, friendship and community.

Thank you, Sachin and family, for your kindness, your warmth, your big smiles and the generous spirit you have brought to our churches and our community. Thank you for walking alongside us, sharing in our worship, our celebrations and our everyday lives, and for reminding us through your ministry of God’s love and joy.

As you leave Saddleworth, we pray that God goes with you and blesses you richly in all that lies ahead.

“The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” — Psalm 121:8

You will always be part of our Holy Trinity, Dobcross church family. Go with our love, our prayers and our very best wishes for your next adventure. 🙏❤️

God bless you all. ✨

This week we talked about how important every single person in our church family is and how we can make sure everyone feels welcomed, valued and loved. 🥰

We also thought about how we can share God’s love with others and invite our friends to church, so that they can experience the same love and friendship too. ❤️

Our prayer was:

🙏 “Help us Jesus to continue to spread your word and to invite our friends to church so that they can love us too, Amen.”

A lovely reminder that church can be place for everyone. ⛪️💛

🐞 Have you ever wondered what’s crawling around the churchyard? 🕷️

This morning, our Sunday School took learning outdoors as we joined in with Churches Count on Nature.

Armed with our spotting skills and plenty of curiosity, we discovered ladybirds, spiders, lots of greenfly, woodlice, and even a centipede hiding on a windowsill!

It was a wonderful opportunity to explore God’s creation, learn about the wildlife living right on our doorstep, and appreciate the amazing variety of nature around our church.

What creatures have you spotted in your garden this week? 🌿🐛

Wow, what a wonderful day we shared yesterday! Thank you to everyone who played a part in making it such a success, including all the talented musicians.

If you’re already looking forward to Whit Friday 2027, or if you’ve been curious about what the BBC van was doing at the vicarage a couple of weeks ago, do tune in to BBC Radio 4 at 8:10am tomorrow morning.

There’s just enough time to catch it before joining us for worship 🎺🎶

2 sleep to go for this year but we need to keep the Saddleworth Whit Friday tradition marching on! 🎺🚶‍♂️

The Whit Friday Church Walks are the heartbeat of our villages - a cherished tradition that has brought our communities together for generations. Whether you take part, follow the brass bands, or line the pavements each year to cheer everyone on, you’ll know just how special this day is to Saddleworth.

Each Whit Friday morning, five processions make their way through Saddleworth before gathering at King George V Playing Fields in Uppermill for an open-air ecumenical service - a truly unique and much-loved local tradition.

Like many community events, rising costs for safety measures, insurance, and road closures are making it increasingly difficult to organise. To help keep the banners flying and ensure the walks continue for future generations, we’re aiming to raise part of the £7,000 needed through GoFundMe.

If you’re able to support us, no matter how small the donation, it would be hugely appreciated. Thank you for helping keep this wonderful Saddleworth tradition alive.

A little sneak peek of something very special from last night… 🎙️✨

We were delighted to welcome BBC Radio 4 to church for a recording celebrating the spirit of Whit Friday in Saddleworth.

The church was absolutely full of music, community and atmosphere - with a choir gathered from Saddleworth churches and Saddleworth Musical Society, Dobcross Youth Band, and the wonderful children’s choir from Holy Trinity Dobcross all coming together for a truly memorable evening.

It was such a proud moment to see our church filled with local spirit. We can’t wait to share more soon… 🎶
