Yesterday at MTI, we held a special assembly on the blessed month of Muharram. Students learned about the significance of Muharram as the beginning of the Islamic New Year, the important events associated with this sacred month, and the virtues and rewards of fasting, especially on the Day of Ashura.

The assembly also explored the Islamic lunar calendar and the solar calendar, helping students understand how months are calculated and the importance of time in our daily lives and religious observances.

In addition, students learned about the life and legacy of the second Caliph, Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA), reflecting on his justice, leadership, humility, and service to the Muslim community.

May Allah swt enable us all to benefit from the lessons of Muharram and follow the noble examples set by the righteous predecessors of Islam.

This Thursday at MTI, we dedicated two hours to a special assembly on the blessed month of Zul Hijjah, its virtues, and the significance of Hajj. Students learned in detail about the five days of Hajj, the inspiring story of Prophet Ibrahim (AS), and how his sacrifice and devotion are closely linked to the purpose and objectives of performing Hajj. The session was both educational and reflective, helping students deepen their understanding of this important time in the Islamic calendar.

On Friday, students enjoyed a special takeout day with their classmates to mark the end of term before the Eid-ul-Adha holidays. Eid gift bags and sweet cones, organised by the staff at MTI, were distributed to all students, bringing smiles and excitement to the day.

Students have now broken up for the Eid-ul-Adha holidays, and we look forward to welcoming them back in one week’s time for another productive and successful term, InshaAllah.

On Sunday, the MTI WARRIORS Under 13’s proudly represented our Masjid & Maktab at a football tournament in Bolton. Although we didn’t get the results we hoped for, the boys played brilliantly against some very strong club and league teams.

Most importantly, everyone enjoyed the day with their teachers and classmates, finishing off with pizza before returning home to Oldham. Well done to all the boys for their effort and teamwork throughout the day.

On Friday at MTI, we held our monthly assembly with the entire maktab. This month’s focus was on Hajj and Umrah as we approach the blessed days of Hajj.

Students took part in a practical demonstration of Umrah, including how to correctly wear the ihram—building on what they had learned in last year’s syllabus.

It was truly encouraging to see such enthusiasm from the students, with many engaging questions reflecting their interest and understanding.

May Allah (SWT) accept our efforts and grant us all the opportunity to benefit from these blessed days.
