Among all the days Allah has created, the Day of Arafah (9th Dhul Hijjah) stands above the rest. It is a day of immense mercy, forgiveness and liberation from the Hell-fire — a day in which duʿas are accepted and sins are erased.
Laylat al-Qadr is known as the greatest night of the year. Likewise, the Day of Arafah is regarded as the greatest day of the year; the pinnacle of the blessed first ten days of Dhul Hijjah.

It was on the Day of ʿArafah that Allah revealed: “Today I have perfected for you your religion, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion.” [Surah al-Ma’idah: Ayah 3]
Laylat al-Qadr is the night when the Qur’an was first sent down. Meanwhile, the Day of Arafah is the day when Allah perfected our beautiful religion of Islam
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “There is no day upon which Allah frees more people from the Hellfire than the Day of Arafah…”
[Sahih Muslim]
Mount Arafat, also known as the Mountain of Mercy, is located approximately 20km southeast of Makkah. It is here that Prophet Ibrahim prepared to sacrifice his son, and where Hajj pilgrims gather for the pivotal rite of standing before Allah — making du’a, seeking forgiveness, and humbling themselves in vigil.
For the pilgrims, it is the greatest pillar of Hajj. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Hajj is Arafah.”
[Sunan Abu Dawood]
And for those not performing Hajj, this blessed day still remains an extraordinary opportunity — through fasting, dhikr, repentance and sincere duʿa
May Allah allow us to witness this blessed day of Arafah every year, accept our fasting and sincere duʿas, forgive our sins and shortcomings, and grant us freedom from the Hell-fire and grant us his love and the love of his Messenger ﷺ.
May Allah shower His mercy upon us and the entire Ummah of Sayyiduna Rasulullah ﷺ, grant ease in our difficulties, accept the duʿas of those standing on Arafah, and bless us all with steadfastness, forgiveness and ultimately Jannat Tul Firdaws. Ameen Ya Rabb
