Bethesda Church Royton Furniture Bank OL2 6UA Reflections on life from having lived for 54 years as someone who has read his Bible many times and tried to live by its guidelines (Now age 72).

We are a used furniture shop to serving the local community. This will involve receiving donations of quality used furniture and selling them on to anyone in the community at a friendly price to cover the costs of running the shop. After the shop’s running costs have been covered the remaining furniture will be available to be given, free of charge, to families on low incomes or in crisis. Free fu

rniture
In general free furniture will be given to families referred to us by one of the many social caring agencies; e.g. Social Services, Children’s Centres, Health Visitors etc. Donations of furniture
Often people in our area moving into a fresh house or flat have nothing. If you have any good quality used furniture that you can let us have we will be most grateful. Typical needs for a new start are:
double and single beds with mattresses, wardrobes, chests of drawers, storage units, bedside cabinets and lights, 2 seater sofas with matching chairs, coffee tables, TVs and stands (old with freeview box is fine), sideboards with good storage, small dining tables and/or drop leaf type with chairs, under-worktop fridge freezers and larger fridge freezers, washers, electric cookers (not gas), kitchen utensils and pans etc., curtains and tracks for 7ft and 5 ft windows and often carpets as well. Please don't be offended if you see that something you have donated is for sale. We will keep a stock of the above items to meet needs as they arise and sell other items to cover the costs of more expensive items that are most needed but come in least often such as cooker,s washers, fridge freezers and carpets. Deliveries
Deliveries can be arranged at a cost of £10 within a 5 mile radius of OL2 6UA. Funds raised above running costs will be used to purchase items needed for free distribution that we do not have in stock at the time of need.

We decided last night to put the blue bin out for receiving donations of toys. As I left the house to put it in my trailer and take it to church a neighbor came tripping down the street offering me a lovely present. If we had waited till tomorrow she would have been out of the country. About an hour later I went church to put the notice on the side of the bin just in time to meet the first Lady to bring a donation.
Off I went on a little errand calling back cause I had left a light on to find that two other folk had put their bags of toys in.
We are giving out to people who are giving out to those with so little so don’t hold back will you

Today we put out our blue bin in the church car park for you to put any quality used toys in that you would like to give...

1 – If you have good quality used toys to donate, please post them on “nana jeans free site” or drop them off at her house (19 Kingston Drive Royton OL2 5XU); or on RAOK (Random Acts of Kindness Shaw, Royton). You can also post requests for toys needed on these sites. Clean, good quality clothes also make great presents.

Hi all we are looking forward a mobility scooter for an elderly lady who is housebound but would be able to get to get out to the shops and for that bit of company to ease the being on her own feeling. We could pay a bit if needed.
Thanks

Just to tell you how it works.
From my asking you if anyone had a double bed the other day, I got a double bed for the pregnant lady plus a chest of drawers and a brand new single mattress, the mattress from that double bed went to a lovely helpful young lady who lived just down the street. Another bed I got that I will give to the young man came from the same place as a wardrobe and a desk and swivel desk chair that went to another young couple just setting up.
You just need to fit a tow ball to your car and get a used trailer off eBay and throw away your fear and remember, it’s better to give than receive. This is definitely something most of us could have a go at and you meet lots of lovely people. Don’t be fooled I still get to watch too much telly 😀😀💙

I took a food parcel to a chap today and the conversation went like this: Ring-ring. “Hello, where’s your door?? I can see number 7 and 9 but where is number 8?” “I’m here at the gate.” “Oh,right got you. Didn’t I come to this house earlier in the week?” “Oh yes, that was for my friend who I have said can sleep on my couch but I can’t afford to feed him.” “Oh great, that’s very kind of you. By the way have you got a microwave to cook these meals in?” “No, but I have this small cooker thing that does it ok.” “Would you like a microwave?” “Yes please!” “I just happen to have one in the car - here you go.”
At which time his mate appeared with no socks on, tip-toeing down the street to volunteer to carry it. Turning back to the first chap I said, “Excuse me for asking, but have you got a bed?” “Well I have one of those fold up things but it’s not very comfy.” “Would you like one?” “Yes please!” Me to his mate, “You can have his fold up bed now, that’ll be good won’t it?” “Yes, that’s great!” he said with a laugh.
By the time I got home I had the following text from him:

hi Geoff thanks a lot for that, and any other household items i’ve not got much would be appreciated
