UJS are running a fundraiser right now. As a charity they require donations so they can continue to support JSocs around the country.

Any money raised by our members will be ringfenced directly for Aberdeen!

During the pandemicLike so many organisations we faced difficult choices. Yet our mission to support Jewish students was more vital than ever before.

We've taken down a number of posts in the past few days asking us about our participation in the Israel-Palestine conflict. As great as our JSoc is, our influence doesn’t reach much further than the banks of the River Dee - please direct these posts to the Israeli Ambassador, he’s paid a small fortune to speak on behalf of the State of Israel.

To those posting antisemitic, annoying or disrespectful things on our page, I have one request - Gonnae no dae that?

We are disappointed with the Aberdeen University Students' Association’s decision to consult with the Palestinian Society regarding their position on the adoption of the IHRA definition of antisemitism. It should be for Jews and only Jews to define the term antisemitism.

This comes only months after the Jewish community were shut out of discussions regarding the IHRA definition of antisemitism.

This demonstrates complete disregard for interests of the Jewish community on campus. We will be writing to the Association later today demanding a public apology.

We are aware of individuals have been targeting J-Socs across the UK with antisemitic abuse.

If you are the victim of antisemitism please notify Police Scotland on 101 (or 999 in an emergency) and the Community Safety Trust on 0800 032 3263.

Should anybody need support to report an antisemitic incident, please get in touch with us, the university or the Aberdeen University Students' Association.
