Sunday Services

For those wishing to come to church to offer prayers following the devastating crash, three services will be offered on Sunday, in addition to services at St Mary’s Belstone and St Petroc’s Inwardleigh (both at 9:30):

9:30am – Service at St Thomas a Becket, Sourton. For further information, please contact Revd Adrian Brook.

11:00am – Café Church at the Church Hall. A relaxed, informal service suitable for families. This Sunday's focus is on prayer, with prayers being offered for the crash victims and their families.

2:00pm – Service at All Saints Church. A quiet time of reflection and prayer specifically for those wishing to pray for the victims of the crash and their families, or to light a candle.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the helicopter incident earlier this morning. Our prayers are with those affected and the emergency services who are in attendance helping.

Our armed forces have a long association with Okehampton, with Okehampton camp just outside of the town centre.

The Ministry of Defence says an investigation into the incident is under way.

As recorded in our Annual Report…

We are especially grateful for:
• Those who support the church faithfully in prayer, including those who are no longer able to volunteer physically.
• Our welcoming and hospitality teams: those who open the church, prepare for services, undertake sacristan duties, administer the chalice, and provide
refreshments.
• Those who read the scriptures and lead the intercessions.
• Lay members of the congregation who are willing to lead worship when required.
• Our bell ringers.
• Members of the choir, who rehearse weekly and lead our singing each Sunday.
• Those who care for the votive candles.
• Our retired priests with Permission to Officiate, who ensured the continuation of sacramental ministry during the vacancy.
• Those who keep the church clean and tidy, including tackling those hard-to-reach cobwebs.
• The flower-arranging team and all who decorate the church so beautifully for festivals.
• Those who climb onto roofs, clear gutters, tidy the churchyard, and maintain the grounds.
• Those who sweep the paths each week, particularly during the autumn months.
• The social and fundraising group, who organise a wide and imaginative programme
of events.
• Those who manage the Church Hall and ensure it is available to the wider
community.
• Our many “fixers”, who quietly repair and maintain so much behind the scenes.
• Our PAT tester, who ensures electrical safety.
• Those who support the live-streaming of services and assist with church technology.
• Our verger and PCC Secretary (one and the same person).
• Our interim Treasurer, Churchwardens and Parish Safeguarding Officer, who ensured good governance and safeguarding throughout the vacancy.
• Members of the PCC, and particularly the Vice-Chair, who chaired meetings during the interregnum.
• Our Electoral Roll Officer.
• The editor of Grapevine, our weekly newsletter, faithfully produced each week.
• And finally, all those who step forward willingly whenever help is needed.
To all our volunteers, the PCC offers its sincere thanks for your generosity, faithfulness and service.
