Whitestone Christadelphians

Whitestone Christadelphians We hold a regular Bible Hour session at the Whitestone Community Centre on Sundays at 10:45am. We would love to share that with you.

We believe there is meaning in this life and that there are good and credible reasons to believe that the God of the Bible exists. Having examined the evidence, we believe that Jesus of Nazareth rose from the dead nearly 2,000 years ago. This gives us assurance that God is working to bring about a wonderful time of peace, security and justice on the earth. We believe that the Bible, made up of the

Jewish scriptures (the Old Testament) and the writings of Jesus' followers (the New Testament) is not simply a collection of writings from antiquity and from different ancient cultures. We believe there is good reason to trust that God was communicating through each of the writers in such a way that the collection of writings we now call "the Bible" is the word of God. There is security, peace of mind and satisfaction in the wisdom that the Bible brings. Please feel free to drop in and join us for our Bible Hour, held nearly every Sunday at 10:30am, where we hold a variety of discussion sessions and talks. You are sure to be given a warm welcome.

Translation is a wonderful thing.
NASB/ESV, LEB, CSB, NRSVue, KJV, YLT, R. Alter, all of them sing.
We desperately need the justice that only God can bring.

Paul has a whole host of things to deal with when writing to the believers in Corinth. He had been there in person with them, written to them before (1Cor5:9), and would go on to write to them again afterwards. His authority was challenged at times but this did not discourage him. Focussing on what God had done and would do, meant that Paul could handle the complexity and difficulties he faced, trusting that God's power was more than sufficient.
How can we trust in God, and not in our own wisdom, this week?

We have been reading through the letter Paul wrote to those in Philippi. The warmth and positivity in his communication with them is notable given the circumstances he was writing in. Paul had benefitted from this group materially and spiritually; it is evident in every chapter.
Giving them examples of those who had risked things and suffered for the sake of the Gospel (Jesus, Timothy, Epaphroditus), Paul hopes to support them as they face challenges.
If you need encouragement, if you need building up - I'd start with Philippians.

It is Autumn, and in this season, contemplation and meditation seem more appropriate than they would on an August Bank Holiday weekend.
With this in mind, what have you found helps to incorporate into your weekly routine?
My top 3 are -
1. Getting up half an hour earlier to sit, look out the window, and read a few verses from the Gospel of Luke
2. Find and review my coat and scarf options Prov 31:21
3. Plan to spend time with others 2 Tim 4:21

What have you found works in misty October?
