In this week's prayer diary we highlight Black History Month (BHM in Britain), as this year marks its 39th anniversary.

BHM gives us a chance to celebrate contributions, teach a fuller history, promote inclusion, address inequality and inspire future generations.

Pray with us as we consider God's calling to continue building communities rooted in love rather than division.

Our friends at Churches Together in Britain and Ireland have released some resources on this topic:

Really encouraging story from East Hill Baptist Church in Wandsworth, London.

Thanks to Les Rees-Partridge, lay pastor and leader, who shared it with us:

"On Sunday 27 September, East Hill Baptist Church in Wandsworth, London held a baptismal service when London Baptists Regional Team Leader the Revd Phil Barnard baptised three young people, Della, and husband and wife William and Natalila.

"The church’s moderator, the Revd Keith Parr, pastor of Earlsfield Baptist Church, Wandsworth gave the sermon.

"William, who hails from Ireland, and Natalila from Ukraine were married in the church earlier in the year and our three new friends have become much loved members of the East Hill family.

"Phil also led the service and joined the worship group by playing his guitar and singing. The service ended with a rousing rendition of ‘This is Amazing Grace’ which nearly raised the roof. We then had a fabulous after service lunch to finish."

Creator God,
You breathe life into all creation;
you knit us together in our mother’s womb;
and you baptize us into one Body.
Pour out your Spirit and continue your
creative work within and among us:
Weave your hope through our life together
that we may catch glimpses of your glory;
Weave your light through our life together
that in the darkness we might see your way;
Weave your peace through our life together
that all may dwell in safety;
Weave your grace through our life together
that in all things your joy may be our strength;
Weave your love through our life together
that we may grow more fully into the likeness of Christ. Amen.

The baptismal pool at Westdale Lane Baptist Church in Nottingham is having a busy season! following 3 baptisms before Easter, there's another one happening this weekend.

Blessings on the person being baptised and the folks at Westdale Lane.
