Thank you to everyone who came today to continue the work we began earlier in the year, cutting back the bushes and clearing the plant growth in front of the church. It is much lighter inside the building now that bushes are not blocking the light coming through the windows. Lots of hard work was done removing some huge lethal brambles that were growing next to the porch and blocking access to the chancel door. Following our two bank holiday working days this year, the church grounds look so much better and St. George’s Church looks more cared for and open! Thank you also to Lilli for providing the workers with lunch on both occasions.

Thank you also to Jason and the people from Immediate Justice who have also been doing some tidying up in our grounds during the last few months.

The very overgrown border at the far end of our church grounds next to the Chinese takeaway needs tidying next. The huge extremely prickly bushes will be difficult to cut down and dispose of, could prove to be too hard a task for our small group of volunteers.

Thank you to whoever the kind person was who during this past week has been working in our church grounds. It remains a mystery to us as to who it might have been. It will make our work much easier when we have our next working day on Monday 31st August. That large fuchsia bush growing up in front of our church windows was at the top of our list of things to do.

Thank you also to everyone who has made a special effort last Sunday and today to be at our 11am service when so many of our regular congregation have been away on holiday. We have made it well into double figures both weeks. Thank you also to Bishop Roger Jupp for celebrating Mass this morning and Graham Hayward for leading us in worship last Sunday.

Just a reminder that this Tuesday morning Fr Alan Haydock will be celebrating Mass at 10.30am. This is a quiet service lasting no more than 30 minutes. All welcome.
Next Sunday at 11am we will be celebrating The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary when Fr Alan will be the celebrant and preacher.
Fr Alan is also with us on Sunday 23rd and Sunday 30th August.

Quite a number of our regular congregation are going to be away on holiday these next few weeks. Numbers at our 11am Sunday Service will be quite low. If you are not away please make a special effort to be at church to support those leading our worship.

This Sunday 2nd August at 11am we welcome back Graham Hayward, the Licensed Lay Minister at St George's in the Meadows, for a Service with Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament.
Sunday 9th August is a Sung Mass with Bishop Roger Jupp.
Fr Alan Haydock is then with us on Sunday 16th August when we will have a Sung Mass for the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Fr Alan Haydock will also be with us on 23rd and 30th August.

There is a Said Mass on Tuesday 11th August at 10.30am celebrated by Fr Alan Haydock.

On August Bank Holiday Monday 31st August, we are planning on having another working day in the church grounds from 10am. All offers of help very welcome as we attempt to cut down the rest of the bushes at the front of the church.

The photograph was taken at our 11am Sunday Parish Mass a number of years ago celebrated by Fr Paul Botting. We continue to pray for Fr Paul every week at St George's as he is sadly no longer well enough to be with us.

Join us tomorrow morning at 10.30am for our midweek Mass. This takes place monthly usually on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and is celebrated by Fr Alan Haydock. This is a quiet service lasting no longer than 30 minutes. Tea/coffee is available afterwards.

The photograph was taken way back in February 2017 when the Mass was weekly on a Tuesday morning and up to a dozen people regularly attended. Fr John Dewar was the priest in the photo.

Tomorrow morning at 11am we welcome Mr Graham Hayward to lead our worship which will include Holy Communion from the Reserved Sacrament. Graham is a Licensed Lay Minister at St. George’s in the Meadows Church in Nottingham. Graham led our worship on Easter Sunday and on Remembrance Sunday last November. It will be good to have him with us again as we continue to strengthen our links with both St. George’s in the Meadows and St. Cyprian’s churches.

The Gospel Reading tomorrow begins a series for the next few weeks from St. Matthew’s Gospel looking at some of the parables Jesus told. We begin tomorrow with The Parable of the Sower.

This coming Tuesday morning, 14th July, at 10.30am we have a Said Mass celebrated by Fr Alan Haydock. This is a quiet service lasting no more than 30 minutes followed by tea/coffee.

We have a joyful evening coming up on Sunday at St Cyprian's. Our choir is joined by the choir of All Hallows' Gedling for 1662 Prayer Book Choral Evensong. Readings from the King James Bible and you even get the General Thanksgiving! All are welcome.

Tomorrow morning at 11am we have our usual Sung Parish Mass celebrated by Fr. Alan Haydock. Following the service there will be a short PCC Meeting to discuss the outcome of our recent Fire Safety Inspection. It was far more positive than we had expected!

During the summer months it is often difficult for us to find clergy each week to celebrate our 11am Parish Mass. We have done very well this year as you will see from the list below. On Sundays 12th July and 2nd August we don’t have a priest but we welcome back Graham Hayward, the Licensed Lay Minister from St. George’s in the Meadows, to lead us in a service with Communion from the Reserved Sacrament. Please make a special effort to be at the Parish Mass each Sunday to keep our numbers as high as possible during the summer holiday season when many people will be away.

This Sunday is the Third after Trinity, and we welcome Fr Alan Haydock again to lead our service at 11am. We are ever grateful for his support in maintaining our Sunday services.
