We are a very diverse church, worshipping in a variety of languages including English, Polish, Nordic, Mandarin and Cantonese. We are Christians from all parts of the world, drawn together by our shared faith and common Lutheran heritage. We welcome in our midst all those who want to explore their faith and find a worshipping community. As Lutherans we believe that we are saved by the grace of God and invited to gather around the Word of God and the Sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion.

New Series of English Lutheran Services in Manchester ⛪⛪

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new series of English-language Lutheran services in Manchester, bringing together people from across Greater Manchester to worship, pray, and grow in faith.

Our Launch Service will take place on Sunday, 13 September 2026 at 4:00 pm at Martin Luther Church, 9 Park Road, Stretford, Manchester (M32 8FE).

This special service will be led jointly by Pastor Joseph, Pastor Krystyna, and Pastor Christa.

Following the launch, services will be held every second Sunday of odd-numbered months at 4:00 pm, on the following dates:

-13 September 2026 – Launch Service
-8 November 2026
-10 January 2027
-14 March 2027
-9 May 2027

This worship programme is a joint initiative between the Deutsche Evangelische Kirche Manchester and the Lutheran Church in Great Britain, reflecting our shared commitment to serving the growing English-speaking Lutheran community in Manchester and beyond.

ST ANNE’S IS MOVING ⛪️

From September 2026, St Anne’s Lutheran Church will begin a new chapter at St George’s German Lutheran Church, 55 Alie Street, London E1 8EB. St George’s has been a place of Lutheran worship since 1762–63, when the congregation was founded by Dederich Beckmann, serving generations of German-speaking immigrants who lived and worked in London’s East End. Through war, persecution and times of great change, worship continued at St George’s.

The church is also closely connected with Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was associated with the congregation between 1933 and 1935, and with Pastor Dr Julius Rieger, who courageously helped Protestant Christians of Jewish descent escape N**i persecution. Inside, the church preserves remarkable historic features, including its original 18th- and 19th-century furnishings, German Commandment Boards, historic stained glass and its magnificent Walcker organ. Now, more than 260 years after its foundation, St George’s enters a new chapter as the new home of St Anne’s Lutheran Church.
