Introducing Al-Sharaf Institute’s New Monthly Course Series…

As we begin a new academic year, we’re pleased to introduce a new initiative at Al-Sharaf Institute: a series of monthly courses exploring foundational and beneficial subjects through the works of leading scholars.

Our first course: The Prophetic Pedagogy

Based on the renowned work of Shaykh ‘Abd al-Fattāh Abū Ghuddah, Al-Rasūl al-Mu’allim, this 10-session course explores the beautiful methodology of teaching employed by the Beloved of Allāh ﷺ.

Through studying the Prophetic approach, we’ll reflect on how knowledge was conveyed, and how lessons were taught with wisdom.

Start Date: 17th September 2026
Every Thursday and Friday — 8:30-9:30PM UK Time
Taught by: Shaykh Sufyan al-Madani

Mawlid Mubarak from everyone at Al-Sharaf Institute!

Hear from our honourable teacher, Shaykh Issarar Hussain.

Allah made him pure, protected him, and chose him, and never has a person been created like him.

And to love him, remember him, support him, and revere him is a commandment to us from the Lord of the Throne.

Allāh says in the 29th verse of al-Baqarah:

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَ لَكُم مَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًۭا ثُمَّ ٱسْتَوَىٰٓ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَسَوَّىٰهُنَّ سَبْعَ سَمَـٰوَٰتٍۢ ۚ وَهُوَ بِكُلِّ شَىْءٍ عَلِيمٌۭ

‘It is He who created everything in the earth for you, then He intended to form the sky, so He fashioned it into seven skies, and He has complete knowledge of everything.’

al-Imām al-Suyūtī writes under ‘جميعا’:

‘لتنتفعوا به و تعتبروا’

al-‘Allāmah al-Sāwī mentions in his commentary on the Jalālayn the manner in which benefit can be sought from everything in creation, whether tangibly (ظاهرا) or ecologically (باطنا). As for predatory animals, then their benefit lies in the lessons learnt from them. al-Sāwī concludes by saying that there is nothing that is created except that within its creation, there is a wisdom that embezzles the mind.

In this lesson, Shaykh Issarar Hussain highlights this concept through the example of a vulture, inviting us to reflect upon the remarkable design and purpose evident throughout His creation.

As we approach the ‘Urs of Imām Ahmad Ridā Khān al-Hanafī al-Māturīdī رحمه الله, we invite you to witness a glimpse of the extraordinary eloquence that earned him recognition as one of the greatest scholars and poets of his age.

In this lesson, our Year 3 students explore the rhetorical devices of tashbīh malfūf (where all the things being compared (the mushabbahs) come first, followed by all the things to which they are compared (the mushabbah bihis)), and tashbīh mafrūq (where each mushabbah is immediately followed by its corresponding mushabbah bihi).

During this lesson, Shaykh illustrates how the Imām masterfully wove these forms of eloquence into just one poem of his…

He writes:

This shows that his poetry was not only filled with love for the RasūlAllāh ﷺ, but also crafted with magnificent command of the Arabic sciences and the art of Rhetoric.

To conclude an immensely productive and rewarding academic year, our Year 3 and 5 students at Al Sharaf Institute gathered with their principal, Shaykh Naveed Jameel, with the intention of completing the Qiyās section of Usūl al-Shāshī.

Our Year 5 students also had the opportunity to complete their study of Sharh al-‘Aqāid al-Nasafiyyah, bringing to a close a two-year journey through this foundational text, alongside Mukhtasar al-Ma’ānī, which they completed during this academic year.

In recognition of their successful completion of both works and their dedication throughout their studies, Shaykh Naveed granted them an ijāzah in both texts.

We ask Allāh to accept their efforts, increase them in beneficial knowledge, adorn them with sincerity and steadfastness, and make them among those who serve His dīn with wisdom, and humility.
