What an afternoon! Ethiopian food and authentic Ethiopian coffee and incredible hospitality from Anchor CC. Thank you to the South East Area for allowing me and some of the young adults who went to Brazil to share about their experience in Brazil.

World Gratitude Day

A Civic Service in celebration of Higham’s community togetherness.

On Saturday 19th September Higham Congregational Church hosted a Civic Service to celebrate and to thank all the local voluntary organisations, businesses and individuals who make such a wonderful contribution to community life in their village.

The Mayor of Gravesham, Cllr Alison Williams, attended the service, that had been organised by Rev Peter Michell and David Mead from the Church. Linda Cooke from the Congregational Federation also attended the service.

The service highlighted how the local council was committed to promoting volunteering in the community and supporting the key role played by volunteers in village life. The tremendous service provided by the litter-picking, gardening and event volunteers was just one example of these benefits that was recognised.

Here's the best part of this project: it isn't one voice, it's many.

Over the coming weeks, reflections written by ministers, church members and friends from across our Federation will be published, one a day, every day. There will be Bible studies, prayers, moments of mindfulness, hymns and carols, and a few surprises along the way.

Some will make you think. Some will make you smile. A few might do both before your second cup of tea.

It's a reminder that the Church is at its best when we share the journey. ✨

Sunday 1 November.

This week many of our churches are joining in Prisons Week, a time to pray for those in prison, for their families, and for everyone who works alongside them. 🙏

Please take a few minutes to watch it, and then take a moment to pray.
