Have you lost a loved one? Do you feel you have nowhere to turn to with your grief, no one who listens to you and understands?
Bereavement is one of the hardest times of life, and without support, grief can be suppressed leading to an increased sense of loss and physical or mental health issues.

The Bereavement Journey is a 7 week course that will gently guide you through the more common aspects of grief, whether you have a faith or not, and explore ways of coping and moving forward.
We are running the course again this year at St Lawrence Church, Gotham, every Thursday from 10th September 2026 to 22nd October at 2:00pm.

Although developed by a church, the course is open to all, regardless of faith, or absence of faith. There is a seventh optional session, for participants to choose if they would like, to discuss their bereavement in the context of their own faith.

This is very much a course about self healing through your own journey with grief. It is not counselling. The volunteers are Mo Elliott, Rector Richard Coleman and Anne Farnsworth. The course is free, although a small charge is made for the manual.
If you are interested in attending, you can email Mo at [email protected] , or through the contact form on the A453 churches website:

What a fantastic morning we had yesterday at St Peter's!

The rain stayed away, and we were able to hold our service outside as we celebrated the baptism of two adults who have chosen to follow Jesus. It was a real privilege to share such an important moment with them, surrounded by church family and friends.

There was a great atmosphere of celebration throughout the morning. Our band led us in worship and after the baptisms we shared communion together.

We also took the opportunity to launch our new Family Alpha Course, starting in September. It's a chance for the whole family to explore the Christian faith together, with activities, discussions and teaching designed for every age.

A special thank you to the Ruddington Village Community Partnership for their amazing support. They lent us a sound desk and two large gazebos, and even came out early on a Sunday morning to put them up and returned later to take them down. We really appreciate everything they did to help make the morning such a success.

Thank you to everyone who came, helped, supported and celebrated with us. Here are a few moments from a very special morning.

HELP HEAT ST PETERS CHURCH

At the heart of Ruddington for generations, St Peter's is more than a place of worship. It's a building used by the whole community for weddings, funerals, concerts, fairs, Makers' Nights and many other community events.

After our heating system failed last year, we're now close to installing a replacement, but we still need to raise the final funds to complete the project.

If St Peter's has been part of your life, whether regularly or occasionally, we'd be grateful for your support.

Thank you for helping keep St Peter's open, warm and welcoming for the whole community.

After many years of service, our heating system failed last year. Despite our best efforts to install a replacement before last winter, we had to manage without heating. The good news is that we hope to begin installing a new system soon.

Nearly fifteen years ago, we took our first tentative steps in worshipping with a live band. On a good day, we were blessed with piano, guitar, bass, drums and 2-3 vocalists.

Over the years there have been some challenges, but today, Easter Sunday, was a glorious reflection of how we have been blessed with musicians at St Peter's in recent years. With multi-talented musicians and vocalists, we enjoyed almost every combination of alto and tenor sax, French horn (x2), clarinet, trumpet, drums, organ, piano, bass guitar and guitar (x2) as we sang a mix of traditional hymns and contemporary songs to celebrate our risen saviour!
