The Moderator and Mrs Yvonne Laws, Pastoral Consultant, took part in the Service of Welcome for The Revd Richard Skinner at ChristChurch Local Ecumenical Partnership (Grantham) on Tuesday evening. The Circuit Superintendent, The Revd Dawn Brown, presided over a service that honorued and celebrated the fact that ChristChurch is a member church of both the Grantham & Vale of Belvoir Circuit and our East Midlands Synod. The Chair of Nottingham & Derby Methodist District, The Revd Andy Fyall, preached the Charge and led Richard through his promises as he commences a new chapter in ministry; Mrs Yvonne Laws led the opening prayers; and the Moderator addressed Richard with the Ecumenical Promise (*) and led the Prayers of Intercession. In responding, Richard encouraged all present to rely upon the Holy Spirit for faithful mission and service.

Richard is an active supernumerary minister, who has worshipped at Bingham since moving to Nottingham, and will serve ChristChurch in a part-time capacity.

(*) The Ecumenical Promise:
Recognising that you are appointed to serve both the United Reformed Church and the Methodist Church, will you faithfully serve both churches, upholding their traditions and honouring a spirit of worship and service.
Richard's response: I will. I ask God to help me, and I invite you to join with me in seeking to be one in Christ.
Congregational response: May we live our unity in Christ.

The prayers of the Synod are assured for Richard and ChristChurch.
