Alternative Friday Night - Friday 2 February, 7-9pm
Come and meet like-minded people aged 18-35, for an alternative Friday night of meditation, Buddhism talks, discussion and alcohol-free socialising. Make a positive choice for yourself and the world. Do something different.
With so much suffering happening in the world and in our own lives, being a young person today can feel overwhelming. Perhaps we take refuge online, or in 24/7 news, or social media - only to witness unimaginable suffering in distant places. Yet we know deep down that turning our heads and looking away is no way to respond to a world on fire.
What if we could respond to this world without falling into apathy or false positivity? What if we could honestly face up to the world’s suffering, and our own suffering, and still find space within ourselves to be more compassionate, kinder, and more loving? Buddhism can give us the resources we need to face reality and use our suffering to transform our own minds. In doing so, we can become more resilient and we can begin to influence the world more positively.
Join us on the first Friday of every month to explore how Buddhism can support this journey of transformation.
You don’t need to be a Buddhist to come to the Buddhist Centre – everyone is welcome. No need to book in advance, just turn up on the night.
