This year it's Sunday 15 March ...

Originally it was called Mothering Sunday.

In the 16th century, young apprentices and servants (who often lived away from home) were given one day off during Lent to return home and to their “mother church”.

And here’s the lovely bit… ☺️

On the way home, they'd pick wildflowers from the hedgerows to give to their mums. 💐
