St Margarets Church Drayton Grade II* listed church set at the heart of the village of Drayton

07/04/2026

Saturday 25th April, 10am to 12.30pm

You are warmly invited to a History Talk by Dr Brendan Chester-Kadwell, our local historian and church expert. The Talk includes the landscape history of the parish of Drayton, it’s early settlement and the origins of the church. Also included will be the history of St Margaret’s church building and how it has changed over the centuries.

There will be a chance to look around the church and graveyard, and to enjoy complementary light refreshments in the Church hall.

Donations of £5 towards Church funds would be welcome, or whatever you can afford.

As usual, there will be an opportunity to put flowers in memory at the foot of the cross on Friday afternoon, either before or at the Last Hour service which is at 2pm. The flowers will then be used to decorate the church on Saturday ready for Easter Sunday.

It was lovely to see the children from the Infant School who visited us on Friday and enjoyed exploring the Church. They made music, looked into the font and saw all the different colours we use in the Church throughout the year. A few brave ones climbed the pulpit steps.

This morning Rev Tony and I took all the wonderful donations received to Leeway ready for their Christmas distributions. Leeway is a local Charity which provides refuge for the victims of Domestic abuse. At Leeway, we met the CEO and Caitlin, one of the staff members. One in 3 women and one in 5 men will suffer from Domestic abuse at some time in their life, a shocking statistic. Our donations joined the many others to help give a little joy to the families in refuges this Christmas.
