Alleluia! Christ has Risen!
He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!
A service this morning filled with some surprises - confetti canons going off...and not! An Easter Egg that was not what it seems, reminding us that God often does the unexpected, like raising Jesus from the dead. An Easter Egg hunt and surprises around the Churchyard. And even a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny.
Wishing everyone a really joyful and happy Easter!

It was lovely to welcome the Essex Leg of the Pilgrim Cross to Easton Church again today as they make their way to Walsingham. We always feel they are as much a blessing to us as we hope we are to them! It was lovely to share an impromptu Taize service with some of the pilgrims as they waited to join up with some who had gone ahead. We will be praying for them as they continue on their journey.

Our Holy Week events and services continue today. This lunchtime we will welcome pilgrims from The Essex Leg of The Pilgrim Cross who are on pilgrimage to Walsingham. Those in Easton may see and hear them making their way through the village to the Church.

This evening we will be meeting at Bawburgh Church for a simple service of Holy Communion accompanied by the ritual of handwashing and the stripping of the altar to mark Maundy Thursday. This is at the earlier than usual time of 5pm.

Pictures are of the inside of St Peter's Church set out with tables and chairs ready for the craft morning, and of the poster for the art and craft morning, decorated with Easter eggs.

Mother's Day - or Mothering Sunday as its traditionally known in Churches - is a day that holds lots of different emotions for many of us. Today in our service we thought about and gave to God all those different feelings as we placed stones in the 'river', we heard about the story of Moses and how he had lots of different people who cared for him and watched over him - his First Mum, his sister and Pharaoh's daughter who loved him and brought him up as her son. In our prayers we gave thanks to God for all who give us their love and care and placed hearts in the river as a sign of that love. And we gave posies to everyone in our congregation to take away and either keep as a sign of God's love or to give away to share God's love with others. However you are feeling today, may you know God loves and cares for you.

This coming Sunday we celebrate Candlemas at Bawburgh Church at 10am.

Candlemas celebrates the day that Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the Temple as a tiny baby. There some elderly people – Simeon and Anna – foretold all that Jesus would do in his life, who he would grow up to be and the light he would bring to the world. Our world might feel a little bit darker today, after the tragic deaths on Queen's Hills Estate a week ago, especially as we think about the lives lost, those little lights that went out far too early, and continue to pray for their family in their devastating loss. We will be holding those thoughts and prayers in mind as we light candles to remind ourselves of the light we each carry into the world, and question what can we do to shine our light and bring hope and love to others?

John 1:5 'The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can not overcome it.'

22/01/2024

Rev Laura will be braving the wind and will be out on the Queen's Hills estate wandering around the Fairway/Foxhouse Rd/Stony Grove area between 11am-12pm today, and will be at the main school gates of Queen's Hills Primary from around 2.40pm before pick up, if anyone wants/needs a chat, a prayer or just to say hi.
