Northampton church of Christ

Northampton church of Christ Acts 4:12 "And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved"

The congregation had its beginnings in Northampton, England in 1980.The Christian Fellowship Centre was designed and built by local Christians and opened for worship in June 1984. The Centre is used by Christians who meet regularly for worship and Bible study. We really want to be nothing more and nothing less than Christians. It is evident that much of the confusion in the religious world stems f

rom the acceptance of human creeds and authorities. We want to lay these aside, and we plead for the unity of all believers on the basis of the scriptures alone.

Today Mark reminded us of the beautiful order of the gospel: God loves first.

Titus 3 shows us that we are not saved by our own goodness, performance or works of righteousness but according to God’s mercy. God did not wait for us to become worthy before He showed kindness. He did not wait for us to get everything right before He showed love.

Like birds that sing after they have been fed, our response to God flows from what He has already done for us in Christ. The song comes after the care. The changed life comes after mercy. The obedience comes after love.

This message calls us to stop trying to earn what God has already offered in grace and instead to respond with faith, repentance, confession and baptism - surrendering to the mercy of the One who loved us first!

This morning Mark preached from Revelation 5:1–14 with the title “Bread and Butter.”

We were reminded that there is no value in comparing ourselves with one another in the Christian life. Some may seem stronger, some weaker, but none of us measure up to God’s standard. Only Christ is worthy and only Christ makes up what is lacking in us.

The message challenged us to keep the right perspective. Like the early disciples our mission is bigger than our personal feelings. When we love one another and stay united in Christ, people will know we are His disciples. But that unity must always be built on the truth of God’s Word, not man-made systems or box ticking religion.

In Revelation 5 Jesus is shown as the only One worthy to open the scroll. He gained the victory through His sacrifice and brought people from every nation together in Him. So instead of comparing ourselves with others, let’s fix our eyes on Jesus the only standard, the only Saviour and the One truly worthy of our worship!

What a joyful day worshipping together in God’s presence.
He loved us yesterday, loves us today and His love will never fail tomorrow.

This morning, Andrew preached from John 9:1–12 with the title “I Can’t See It!”

Through the healing of the blind man, we were reminded that sometimes the real problem is not with our eyes, but with our hearts. The disciples saw a theological question, the neighbours saw confusion, the parents saw fear, and the Pharisees saw only a way to accuse Jesus. But Jesus saw a man in need and an opportunity to reveal God’s work.

The healed man simply held to the facts: he was blind, Jesus healed him, and now he could see. The Pharisees could not deny the miracle, but they refused to recognise Jesus. As the old saying goes, “None so blind as those who will not see.”

May we have open hearts to truly see Jesus and believe.

This morning Tunji looked at James 2:14–26 with the sermon title “Faith That Lives: Making Our Faith Real.”

He reminded us that James is not teaching that works save us, but that real faith always produces visible fruit.

True faith is not just words or belief. It is seen in obedience, love, courage and action. Like Abraham and Rahab, our faith should move us to do God’s will.

The challenge is simple: does our faith provoke something in us? Let’s be doers of the Word and live out our faith every day.

Stuart preached from 1 Peter 3:13–21 this morning on the theme “I will not shut up”, reminding us that following Christ has never meant staying silent. In a world where faith is often tolerated only when it is kept private, we were challenged not to hide our light or withdraw from speaking the truth.

Jesus does not call us to respond with anger, aggression, or the ways of the world. 1 Peter 3 shows us a better way: to be ready to give an answer for our hope, but to do so with gentleness.

Our faith is not something to hide. The good news of Jesus is for everyone.
