This morning, citizens of the United Kingdom, awoke to the devastating news that one the few remaining icons of the civil rights movement passed away.
The Reverend Jesse Louis Jackson stood as a towering figure of courage, conviction, and moral clarity, dedicating his life to the unfinished work of justice, equality, and human dignity. From marching beside giants like the late Rev Dr Martin Luther King, to becoming a giant himself, Jesse Jackson gave voice to the voiceless and hope to those who had been told to wait too long.
His life was not merely a witness to history but a force that helped shape it. He reminded the world that progress requires persistence, faith, and the courage to challenge injustice wherever it lives. His words, his presence, and his unwavering belief in the power of ordinary people to achieve extraordinary change will continue to inspire generations.
Today, we mourn his passing, but we also honour his legacy, a legacy that lives on in every step taken toward freedom and equality. May he rest in peace, and may his example never fade.
