Northampton Methodist District

Northampton Methodist District Welcome to the Northampton Methodist District! There is always good news to share.

We are committed to growing a flourishing sustainable network of circuits of worshipping communities which are growing, evangelistic, justice-seeking, and inclusive in their outworking of the mission of God. We are a large District – and while that presents some challenges (and some long journeys) when we want to gather together it also means we are a lively group of circuits who are able to support and encourage each other.

One of the joys of our District is the wonderful variety of church buildings we have - each with its own story, character, and faithful community.

From striking stained glass to hidden architectural gems like this beautiful little window at Thornborough Methodist Church, these spaces tell stories of faith that have been lived out across generations.

We give thanks for the places that have nurtured faith in the past and continue to inspire hope for the future ❀

The 2026 World Cup has kicked off! But before the cheers, the goals, the victories and the disappointments, let us pray πŸ™

God of all nations,
As the world comes together through sport, we give thanks for the joy, passion and community that football can bring.
We pray for players, coaches, officials and supporters from every corner of the globe. May competition be marked by fairness, respect and integrity.
In a world often divided by conflict and misunderstanding, help us to celebrate our shared humanity. May moments of unity remind us that we are all part of your global family.
Bless those watching with friends and loved ones, and be especially close to those who feel alone, excluded or forgotten.
May the spirit of peace, friendship and hope shine brighter than any trophy.
Amen.

Is this one of coolest volunteering opportunities going? We think it might be! 🏎️

In this month's episode of the OneVoice podcast, Bryn Lauder talks about his search for volunteers to be part of a Methodist presence at the British Grand Prix, inviting the public to pause for a pitstop πŸ’¬

A wonderful story of community partnership between Wymeswold Methodist Church and the Parish Council πŸ‘ well done to all those involved in making this project a success!

Flood Locker Update

Earlier this year, Wymeswold Parish Council was successful in securing a grant of Β£3265 from Charnwood Borough Council to create and stock a flood locker - a secure and waterproof storage unit for equipment needed by our village Flood Wardens during periods of flooding. Plans for this have been going on behind the scenes.

This week we signed an agreement with Wymeswold Methodist Church to refurbish an old storage building on their grounds for this purpose.

The Parish Council and the local Methodist community are delighted to be working in partnership on this mutually beneficial scheme, enabling the refurbishment of a delapidated part of the church premises so that it can be put to good use to support local residents during flooding events. A win-win situation for all! The Methodist Connexional Conservation Officer, Joanne Balmforth, described this as 'a wonderful new use for a charming little appendage'.

The locker will be perfectly sited for ease of use, being immediately adjacent to the area most likely to flood but also on raised ground that is safe from flooding. The Parish Council hope to have the flood locker up and ready to use well in advance of any autumn flooding events. Further updates to follow.

A huge thank you to Wymeswold Methodist Church and the Wymeswold Flood Wardens for all their hard work with this project.

In May, the Oxford Circuit joined together for their second Circuit Celebration service - you can see some of the highlights in this immensely joyful video of it! ❀

"We decided that we would like to get our Circuit churches together to worship, to share the diversity of our Circuit, to enjoy activities together, and to have an opportunity to get to know each other better" - Rev'd Miriam Moul, Superintendent of the Oxford Methodist Circuit πŸ™

πŸ™ Where have you seen God this week?

Sometimes we encounter God in unexpected places.

In a conversation that came at just the right moment.
In the kindness of a stranger.
In the beauty of creation.
In a moment of peace amidst a busy day.

As this week draws to a close, take a moment to reflect:

✨ Where have you seen God at work this week?

Share your thoughts in the comments if you'd like to. Your story might be just the encouragement someone else needs today.

✨ When the light shines through stained glass, it can transform a whole space.

We know our District is home to some stunning church windows, and we'd love to see them!

What's your favourite stained glass window in your church/Circuit?
Share a photo in the comments below - bonus points if you can tell us what it depicts or why it's special to your congregation!

We can't wait to see what you share! πŸ“Έ
