This is the day You have made.
Not a perfect day.
Not a day that arrived wrapped in sunshine,
with every answer attached
and every problem solved.
Just this day.
This alarm clock day.
This aching knee day.
This overflowing inbox day.
This waiting-for-news day.
This missing-someone day.
This trying-again day.
This ordinary,
untidy,
beautiful day.
And somewhere in the middle of it,
You are here.
Not waiting at the finish line
for me to get everything right.
Not standing with folded arms
while I sort myself out.
But here.
In the first cup of tea.
In the school run.
In the traffic jam.
In the hospital corridor.
In the laughter that catches me by surprise.
In the kindness I almost miss.
Paul writes of faith,
love,
and hope.
Not as trophies for the strong,
but as companions for the journey.
Faith that takes another step.
Love that chooses patience
when irritation would be easier.
Hope that refuses to surrender
to the loud voices of fear.
So today,
I may not like everything this day contains.
I may wish parts of it away.
I may grumble.
I may struggle.
I may wonder how I’ll get through it.
But I choose,
with whatever strength I have,
to meet this day anyway.
to look for grace anyway.
to give thanks anyway.
to love anyway.
Because the God who made this day
hasn’t abandoned it.
And the God who walks beside me
hasn’t abandoned me.
So let this day unfold.
with all its rough edges
and unexpected gifts.
And let me discover,
somewhere between the ordinary moments,
that Your goodness
was already here waiting for me.
