Today, at the end of Howard Street, overlooking the Tyne, they are unveiling a statue to this amazing woman who was a member of North Shields Baptist Church, and is the first person recorded in our membership register dating from the 1830s.

A statue is unveiled to Mary Ann Macham who fled from Virginia to North Shields in the 1830s.
