๐ŸŒน Our Lady of Knock โ€“ Feast Day, 17 August ๐ŸŒน

On this special feast, we honour Our Lady of Knock, who appeared at Knock, Co. Mayo, on 21 August 1879, together with St Joseph, St John the Evangelist, and the Lamb of God upon the altar, surrounded by angels.

The apparition was remarkable for its silence. Our Lady spoke no words, yet the scene itself proclaimed the heart of the Gospel: Christ is the Lamb of God, and Mary always leads us towards Him. The Holy Family and St John standing beside the altar remind us of the centrality of Jesus, the Eucharist and the mystery of our salvation.

For generations, pilgrims have travelled to Knock carrying their hopes, sorrows, thanksgiving and prayers. Our Lady of Knock continues to invite us to place everything before her Son with faith, trust and perseverance in prayer.

Today, let us entrust our families, our parish, our Church and all those who are suffering to the maternal care of Our Lady. May she draw us ever closer to Jesus and teach us, like her, to say yes to Godโ€™s will.

๐Ÿ™ Our Lady of Knock, pray for us.
๐Ÿ™ St Joseph, pray for us.
๐Ÿ™ St John the Evangelist, pray for us.
๐Ÿ™ Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.

Our Lady of Knock, Queen of Ireland, pray for us and lead us always to your Son. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’™

8th August we celebrate the Feast of St Dominic, founder of the Order of Preachers (Dominicans).

Moved by a deep love for Christ and compassion for souls, St Dominic dedicated his life to preaching the truth of the Gospel. He believed that hearts are won not by force, but through prayer, study, charity, and the joyful proclamation of Godโ€™s Word. From his witness grew the Dominican Order, whose mission continues today: to praise, to bless, and to preach (Laudare, Benedicere, Praedicare).

May the example of St Dominic inspire us to grow in holiness, to seek the truth with humility, and to share the light of Christ with everyone we meet.

St Dominic, pray for us! ๐Ÿค๐Ÿ–ค
