A Prayer for the New School Year.

Loving God,

As a new school year begins, we pray for all the children and young people in our community.

Be especially close to those starting school for the very first time, moving into a new class or beginning a new school. Calm any worries, help new friendships to grow and fill them with excitement for all that lies ahead.

We pray for teachers, teaching assistants and everyone who works in our schools. Give them patience, wisdom, energy and joy as they care for and encourage our children.

We pray too for parents and carers as routines begin again — particularly those finding tomorrow a little emotional!

May our schools be places where every child feels safe, valued and able to flourish.

And through every new experience, every exciting day and every difficult one, remind our children that they are loved and never alone.

God bless all our local school children, families and staff as they begin this new school year.

Amen. 🙏

With love and prayers from everyone at St John’s Church ❤️

Had the nicest day together as a church today. ❤️

Jill brought us together in our service, talking about devotion and taking off our masks — being brave enough to be truly ourselves before God and one another. The kids got involved too and made some fantastic masks! 🎭

Then we had the most brilliant get-together at the Vicarage.

Food, games, chatting, and SO much laughter! It was just one of those afternoons that was simply happy. No rushing, no pressure — just being together and enjoying each other’s company.

Feeling very grateful tonight for our church family. What a lovely bunch of people. ❤️

Sometimes church is worship, sometimes it’s food and games, and sometimes it’s just laughing together until your sides hurt.

Today was all of it.

This morning we had our lovely monthly visit to Cranlea Care Home. ❤️

The residents absolutely loved the service and, as always, made us feel so welcome. It was especially lovely to have two little ones with us this month too—the smiles they brought to the residents' faces were priceless.

Today's theme was about being rooted in Christ.

🌱 How deep do your roots go with loving Jesus?

What a fantastic morning! ❤️

Today, Rev Sheena and Jane explored Jesus' words to Peter: "Do you love me?... Feed my sheep." It was such a joy to share an all-age service together with drama, sheep hunting, laughter, worship, and time to reflect on God's love and calling.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to all who came along. It was wonderful to worship together across the generations.

And what a way to finish! 🎶 Our God Is an Awesome God was absolutely incredible. The band led it so powerfully, and the whole church was singing with such joy. It was a brilliant ending to a wonderful morning.

God is so good! 🙌
