As name suggests, Mata Mahagauri is extremely fair and due to her fair complexion Mata is compared with the conch, the moon and the white flower of K***a (ga).

The mount of Mata Mahagauri is bull. She has four hands, carries Trishul in one right hand and keeps the second right hand in Abhaya Mudra. She carries Damaru in the one left hand and keeps the second left hand in Varada Mudra.
It is described in our scripture ‘Ashta Varsha Bhaved Gauri’ - meaning Mata’s age is Eight years old. This is the reason Kanya Puja is also performed on Ashtami for which you need to invite girls to your home, wash their feet, worship them and offer food to them-which includes Halwa, Poori, and Kala Chana along with coconut and some money.

Mata Mahagauri is worshipped on the eighth day of Navratri.

The Mount of Mata Kaalratri is donkey and Her complexion is dark black. She has four hands. Mata keeps her right hands in Abhaya and Varada Mudras and carries Sword (Katar) and the deadly iron hook in her left hands. Although Mata Kaalratri is most ferocious form for demons, but for her devotees, She blesses with her Shubh or auspicious power within her ferocious form thus Goddess Kalaratri is also known as Shubhankari (pitt).

Mata Kaalratri is worshipped on the seventh day of Navratri.

Goddess Katyayani - Most violent form of Mata Parvati to destroy demon Mahishasura. She was born at the home of sage Katyayan and due to which this form of Goddess Parvati is known as Katyayani. Goddess Katyayani rides on the ferocious lion and have four hands. Mata keeps her right hands in Abhaya and Varada Mudras and carries words and lotus flower in her left hands.

In Bhagavata Purana, ‘Gopis’ worshipped Maa Katyayani in order to get Lord Krishna as a husband. Mata’s prayer is very effective in removing all obstacles or negative influences of planets cause delay marriage in a girl’s horoscope.

Mata Katyayani is worshipped on the sixth day of Navratri. Astrologically, it is believed that planet Vrihaspati is governed by Goddess Katyayani.
