Blakelaw Community Church

Blakelaw Community Church Local Church living for God and for people Blakelaw Community Church has been here under various names, since the estate was built in the 1970's.

We are a family of Christians from the surrounding area united by our love for Jesus and our commitment to share his Good News as widely as possible, especially in Blakelaw. We long to see the local community blessed in every way, above all by a caring atmosphere which reflects God's goodness. Services are at 11.00am every Sunday and we have on-line prayer and Bible study at 8pm every Tuesday, and

in person in the church building on Thursdays. Once a month on Wednesdays at 7.30pm we have Power Hour prayer and praise in church.

From our friend Ishwarya
On the 21st of August 2022, I walked into Blakelaw Community Church for the first time, and my life was never the same again. What I found wasn’t just a place of worship, but a true spiritual family. The love, kindness, and support I received from everyone there is something I’ll always carry with me.
Saying goodbye in 2024 was harder than I ever expected. I truly hope to be back with you again soon. ❤️

This was around ten years ago while on holiday near Chinon by the river Vienne

Night thoughts in a gîte by a French river.
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God

Nature along this river has a lot going on, but it isn't busy, it is all in harmony. I saw this before I came in and closed the door to embrace silence. I think about the bats and river fish, birds and foxes, all doing what they do; but they know what it is to rest.
Nature has the spectacular, mountains up where the river started, and down here there are colours, scudding clouds, wind, sometimes lightning or rain, but it all happens at its time and season; there is no struggle or any busy haste, not here.
Nature has the wondrous, the sun and moon, day and night, dawn and sunset; which may sometimes be spectacular and sometimes gentle; but none of it competes with itself. The frogs do their thing, the bats and birds fly, the water flows and I am commanded to be still.
Nature isn't busy on this river although there is a lot going on; it doesn't work like that. God isn't busy, that is not his way. Whatever stress or pressure is going on away from here where I will return to, the Holy Spirit has got this. It is good to be still here and breathe. Father God will meet me here. He is in control and He ordained and measured time for work and for rest. Therefore, if I am busy I am out of tune.
Psalm 46:10 Be still and know that I am God

2 Timothy 4:18 states, "The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen."
Many of you that follow me on Facebook have been praying for me and thinking of me. Thank you so much, it means a lot. Therefore, I thought I'd report back on this last week after 4 radiotherapy sessions. Isn't it amazing how the Lord blesses his children? That's the big thing during this radiotherapy. By that I mean the actual radiotherapy is the last thing on my mind, all week the Lord has been so close. Fatigue and brain fog and the hospital to and fro routine mean my prayer times are not as deep as they could be, and yet the presence of God is so real. Instead of mouldering in my study, the Lord's been saying - go water the garden, walk the dog, go shopping with Alison, and he's there with me/us. Our daughter Helen's graduation today was the icing on the cake. We had to watch it on videolink but it was still fab. Evenings and most afternoons are the time I droop.

A night time prayer
The active hours of day are slowing to a walk
Draw me to you Jesus, as I slow down and remember that you have been with me all day.
Lord, you are my salvation, you are my sure and certain helper
You met me in the tension between activities and the time to do them, and you calmed me.
You are with me here in the still space you have create where you tell me to slow down with you, to stop, to breathe, because it is the end of the day and you are Jehovah Shalom. With you is the peace I need as I give you the day that has been and my hope for the day yet to be. Forgive my impatience to attack tomorrow before it arrives. I do not take it for granted. You will give me energy when I need it.
Come into my being Lord, and show me your understanding
Take me to the quiet place of worship even as I rest.
Let my prayer come to you.
Take me to the place of waiting upon you.
Sit with me and let me become still as I say I am thankful.
Lord, Jesus Christ; You are Lord and Saviour and my solid rock. Before the
throne of Father God I respond to your closeness. In your righteousness
intercede for me because I need mercy, healing and forgiveness, there is much I struggle to understand, I am weak, prone to temptation and I am always in need of your healing and your strength. hear my prayer.

What’s Blakelaw Community Church all about?
We are not frighteningly super-religious, not perfect, not here to judge or condemn anyone. You don’t need to know all about the Bible before you join us, and don’t think you are not ‘good enough’ to come to church. We are just a bunch of people from all walks of life who come together warts and all, aiming to worship a perfect God in spirit and truth. Just give us a try on Sunday at 11.00am.
COME AND DISCOVER THE GOD WHO LOVES YOU.

Don’t forget that this Sunday 29th June at 11.00 it’s Holy Communion, Dave Kennard from Nottingham is our guest speaker and it’s a bring and share lunch. IT WILL BE EPIC!

End to End Encryption
WhatsApp says that not even WhatsApp can see your personal messages, videos or photos because they are end to end encrypted. When I was reading that this morning, the Lord showed me something about prayer.
When you pray does your mind wander? Is focus sometimes a struggle? Sometimes our enemy tries distraction to hinder our prayers and sometimes an all-out attack firing salvos of worry, annoyance or even fear.
This is one reason that Apostle Paul tells us to put on the armour of God every day (see Ephesians chapter 6).
What God showed me is this - our prayers are end to end encrypted! When we pray, the devil might guess what we pray about but he can’t hear it! He knows we are praying but he cannot unscramble the message because God sees our heart and knows what we are praying even if we can’t find the words. In prayer we have a secret line to God and satan cannot phone-tap the line.
God bless you.

Who I am in Christ
Wanderer a child of God brought home
Lost a child of God found and brought to safety
Fallen a child of God restored
Weak made strong
Uncertain made sure
Sick made whole
Doubtful made trustful
Broken made complete
Cowardly made brave
Fearful made bold
Angry made calm
Confused made confident
Sinful a child of God forgiven

Praying with scripture
When my mind is too noisy to pray - grant me the focus to seek quiet:
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

When my thoughts are agitated - let me hear your still small voice of calm:
Isaiah 30:15 This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “Only in returning to me and resting in me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength."

When I just cannot concentrate - lead me to kneel at your feet
Isaiah 26:3 ... You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you: because he trusts in you. ...

When I am too emotional - take me by the hand:
1Corinthians 1:5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ so also our comfort abounds through Christ. ..

When I cannot cope - revive and rewarm my innermost being:
Isaiah 41:10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

When I have lost the plot - Lord Jesus Christ Son of God have mercy on me the sinner:
Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God
