For those staff and students returning to school this week and next, have a great first day back!
Mary Oliver’s words feel like good advice for the new school year ahead.

So, as you walk to school and into your classrooms, pay attention to the world around you, to the people you meet, and to the moments of joy, wonder, and learning that each day brings. Be astonished by what you discover, and don’t be afraid to share it with others.

Here’s a date for the diary!

Lost for Words – An evening of Sound Meditation & Creative poetry.
This evening will be a beautiful blend of soothing sounds and creative poetry.
You will get to experience a gorgeous Sound meditation where experienced Sound Healer, Heather will play for you her Gong, crystal bowls, Voice, Drum & chimes to create a soothing tapestry of sound. All you need to do is find a cozy space in the church, (please bring a yoga mat or similar, cushion & blanket for your comfort) and absorb all the healing vibrations.

After this there will be time for tea, chat & nibbles but you will then be lead into a creative writing session so you can document your experience of the Sound bath. How about a touch of poetry to describe your session? You’ll each be given a small notebook and pen & you can spend your time getting lost in words!

All of the donations collected will be going directly towards the much needed heat source pump for the church.

There are a few contraindications – This session is not recommended for people in the 1st trimester of pregnancy, for sufferers of tinnitus or for those with a fitted pace maker.

All are very welcome - you don’t have to lie on the floor, you can choose to enjoy from a chair, whatever is suitable for you. We are really looking forward to having you come & enjoy this experience of Sound & Creative Poetry.

Today in Midday Prayer we remembered the colourful life of Dolly Parton. We reflected on Dolly’s saying “If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours”
We talked about how a smile can be one of laughter, sympathy, friendship, and encouragement but most of all, how people at St John’s make each other feel welcomed through a smile.
