Yesterday, the Benefice has its inaugural pilgrimage along part of the Ceredigion Pilgrimage route between St Michael's church in Penbryn to St Tysilio Church, Llandysiliogogo via St Carannog church in Llangrannog. We were joined by the Diocesan Archdeacon Rev Mones Farah
We travelled by cars between the sites but the hope is that this entire route from Llanina to Penbryn will be a walking, environmental, cultural and historic pilgrimage route.
We were blessed with a short service at Penbryn by the Priest in Charge, Rev Fran before hearing all about one of Wales' oldest churches, dating back to the 11th century and it Celtic history predating the current church building. At Llangrannog we were enthralled with the stories of St Carannog and the famous female Welsh bard, Cranogwej led by Rev Dr Matthew Baynham and churchwarden Wendy Roberts, our very own local historian and supporter of Llangrannog's local communities.
We then winded our way to the picturesque church of St Tysilio near Cwmtydu where Julie Thomas, the main driver and key impetus of getting this pilgrimage route started and taking its progression forward told us all about Cwmtydu's history and culture as well as the stories of St Tysilio. Rev Fran led all attending in a short servic and reflection to conclude our pilgrimage before we were very well looked after by the Seal Cafe at Cwmtydu who provided a well deserved and tasty lunch.
Blessings on all those who joined us and look out for more information of upcoming events and pilgrimage you may enjoy.
