Nelson does seem to love a good Methodist / Catholic mix (Metholic? Catholist?), and indeed Christ Church is unique having been built to host both denominations. The lovely Fr Ged is celebrating his 70th birthday with Mass and would love to see new faces ☺️

Thank you everyone who came yesterday, so good to see the chapel full!
Special thanks to those who were part of making pie and peas happen, and to the voices from
Padiham Rd choir who made worship that bit more magical!
And thank you to Rick - May God bless you in your future ministry & you settle into life in the North East smoothly.

We would like to welcome everyone to a special service on Saturday 6th June at 5pm - this will be Rev Rick’s final service with us before he leaves the circuit. There will be pie & peas after ☺️
Rick was pivotal in keeping the chapel going so please come and give him a good send off ☺️

The voices of those who spread hate and seek to divide communities can seem loud, but they ignore the millions of actions which spread hope and kindness every day, and show what is possible when we come together to make positive change happen.

From 13–20 May, A Million Acts of Hope will bring together all these everyday acts of hope and shine a light on the people and communities making them happen. It’s a national initiative being led by community and faith groups, and charities big and small.

We’ve now been officially added as a dog friendly church on the National Churches Trust website 🐶 ❤️

Our chapel was built in 1797 to fulfil a promise to John Wesley, who preached here in 1786.

We’re open all day today - just down from Shooters Arms, Nelson / up from Walverden Reservoir. Lots of interesting bits of Southfield History and snacks and brews. Come have a bank holiday stroll and pop in!
