🌟 Something exciting is coming to the Archdiocese of Cardiff-Menevia this summer!

From 19 June to 5 July, we are partnering with CCO (Catholic Christian Outreach) for a three-week Diocesan Mission - stretching from Aberystwyth to Hereford.

Twelve CCO missionaries will be joining us, bringing with them a practical and prayerful approach to evangelisation called Intentional Accompaniment - walking with people on their faith journey, just as Jesus walked with the disciples on the road to Emmaus.

There are events open to everyone across the Diocese, including:📍 Nightfever Cardiff - Friday 19 June, 7pm-10pm at Cardiff Cathedral
📍 Day of Prayer across the Diocese - 24 June
📍 Learn to Pray at Belmont Abbey - 27 June
📍 Young Adults Day in Cardiff - 5 July

Archbishop Mark says: "I pray that their time with us will be richly blessed. May they help all of us grow in confidence in being more courageous missionary disciples."This mission is for every Catholic in Cardiff-Menevia - whatever your age or background. Come along, bring a friend, and share this with your parish community. 🙏

Archbishop Mark has responded to Pope Leo XIV's first Encyclical, 'Magnificent Humanity', on Artificial Intelligence — and his words are well worth reading. 📖

"It is inspiring that Pope Leo XIV has chosen to write his first Encyclical, ‘Magnificent Humanity’ on the opportunities and challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence. I encourage all to read and reflect upon it. Pope Leo recognises some of the opportunities AI brings in solving some of the world’s problems and especially in bringing practical solutions to help the poorest and most vulnerable in our world. At the same time, he recognises that machines must be our servants and not our masters. We must never allow them to replace human discernment and human decision making. We must seek to build a ‘civilisation of love’ rather than a ‘culture of power’ at global and local level. It is the beauty of a human face and voice which makes expressions of love real, and warms the human heart. The true meaning of what it is to be human is found not in a machine but in the person of Jesus Christ, who guides us in the right path on how to use technology well."

We pray for the repose of the soul of Canon Jason Jones, for the consolation of his Mother and Brother, and the parish of Sacred Heart, Morriston.

🕯️ Archbishop Mark has shared the shocking and sad news of the passing of Canon Jason Jones, priest of Sacred Heart Church in Morriston, who died this morning.
Please keep his mother, brother, and the parish of Sacred Heart in your prayers.
May he rest in peace. 🙏

"I write to let you know the shocking and sad news that Canon Jason Jones, priest of Sacred Heart Church in Morriston, died this morning of what appears to be natural causes. It is devastating news for us all to experience the loss of such a dedicated and faithful priest. Please keep his mother, brother and the parish of Sacred Heart, very much in your prayers. Let us all continue to pray for one another. May he rest in peace and awake to the sight of an eternal face to face with the Lord."
