Our first service in the garden.
Heavenly Father,
We are here today on this ground, bringing our hearts, our hopes, and our prayers before You. Lord, You know the history of this place. You know the weight it has carried, the neglect it has suffered, and the darkness that has touched its edges. We acknowledge the pain, the violence, and the rubbish that was poured into this space—and we ask for Your mercy, Your healing, and Your peace to wash over every square inch of this area. We declare this is no longer wasteland, it’s a Garden of hope, an Oasis of peace.
Lord Jesus, You specialize in redemption. You take what was broken, discarded, and forgotten, and You make it new. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, we pray a blessing over this former basketball court. We say this space is Your space and dedicate it to Your glory and your creativity.
Where there was rubbish and waste, let there now be growth.
Where there was crime and fear, let there now be safety, peace, hope and joy.
Where there was death and sorrow, let Your life sprout up like fresh shoots from the soil.
We pray for growth and the beauty of your creativity to flourish in the plants and veg that will grow here. May this garden become a physical sign of Your restoration in our neighbourhood. Bless the hands that will plant, water, w**d, and harvest. Let the work done here build real community, breaking down walls of isolation, fear, and poverty. May people learn new skills and bless and heal Joe as he teaches others.
May this be a sanctuary where neighbours meet, children play safely, the hungry are fed, and the weary find rest.
We speak Your peace over this entire neighbourhood. Let Your presence be a shield around this garden, driving away darkness and making it a light on a hill for this area.
May every seed planted in the ground remind us of the new life You offer to each of us. Use this space to bless our community, to bring healing to old wounds, and to display Your beauty right here in the heart of the West End.
In the mighty and transformative name of Jesus, we pray, Amen
