We had the privilege of taking a Memorial Service at Woodhill House today, remembering the residents of the home who have died in the past year. We gave thanks for the lives of 10 former residents, each remembered with a white chrysanthemum in our bouquet. We shared the following prayer:
Do not hurry as you walk with grief. It does not help the journey
Walk slowly, pausing often, do not hurry as you walk with grief.
Be not disturbed by memories that come unbidden. Swiftly forgive;
And let Christ speak for you unspoken words.
Unfinished conversation will be resolved in Him.
Be not disturbed.
Be gentle with the one who walks with grief.
If it is you, be gentle with yourself.
Swiftly forgive;
Walk slowly, pausing often.
Take time, be gentle as you walk with grief.
Amen

It's Songs of Praise tomorrow! We've got 16 songs lined up. Some real classic hymns of faith; one or two that you might have forgotten and some modern songs that really strike a chord. You're welcome to come along and sing with us, and hear more stories from the last 150 years of Baptist witness in Morecambe and Heysham. We start at 10.30am and there's specific activities for children too.

We've been celebrating 150 years of Baptist witness in Morecambe and Heysham this year. Our next event is on Sunday, August 9 and is our annual Songs of Praise service, which will feature 16 songs, one from each decade. There are some traditional favourites in the list; some surprises; as well as newer songs that have blessed us in recent years. All welcome. It will be a memorable morning.

We made the special effort to thanking the 'fellas' at church this morning. All the men received this postcard, plus some 'Heroes' chocolates. Here's a wonderful heart of love that was made in our SPACE children's group at yesterday's service. We have a group for children as part of the service each Sunday and we're encouraged with how numbers have grown in recent months. Always room for more so come along and see if we live up to the verse on the heart!

We've got another CAP Job Club coming to SRBC from Thursday, June 4. The club is ideal for people looking to get into the job market, maybe for the first time, or after a break for whatever reason. We take you on a six week course called 'Steps to Employment', looking at motivation, skills and interests, CVs, interviews skills and much more. Light lunch included.
