On 18th July 1994, 85 Jews were murdered in a bombing in Beunos Aires, Argentina and on the same day in 2012, 42, mainly young Israelis were murdered by a bomb on their tour bus in Burgas Bulgaria. Today is 18th July so if we try to remember such atrocities it will help us to become more determined to stop the incitement of hatred against a people who only want peace and to bless us.

A BITTER ROOT
When I grew an Orchard on the mountain near my home I chose fruit trees which had been grafted onto a vigorous root stock. This form of growing is an ancient form of producing a good crop of a variety of fruits and flowers and which today is common place in horticulture. Those trees which were grafted onto a strong root stock, and I grew 40 in all, were strong and produced good fruit. This year alongside the Tomatoes I grow from seed every year I have purchased three grafted Tomatoes which is a new form of producing our greenhouse summer favourites. Although planted 3 months after the seeds I sowed in February they are already catching up and are strong and vigorous. Despite the fact that the tomatoes I grew from seed already have ripening fruit I can see from the flowers on the grafted Tomatoes that there will be much more and even healthier fruit.
When Paul wrote to the Romans explaining about Gentiles being grafted into the Olive Tree, symbolising Israel I understand exactly what he was trying to say and why he used the symbolism of grafting to show that Gentiles coming to faith in the God of Israel through the sacrifice of the Jewish Messiah Yeshua have a healthier and fruitful spiritual life because of what Paul describes as our feeding on the nourishing sap from the root of Israel.
The symbolism used by Paul all makes sense, but not for many who count themselves part of what we call Christendom today. They seemingly don’t want to be nourished by the sap from the root stock which is Israel, her Messiah and the Scriptures which were given to her by God to feed us and help us to grow vigorously and produce an abundance of fruit.
History has shown that Christendom has fed from the root of bitterness and hatred towards those from whom we should be nourished. On 14th May this year the Church times published a letter from an Anglican vicar from Rippon which accused Israel of Ethnic cleansing and being the Aggressor in operation “Guardian of the Walls” which was a defence action by Israel against 4,400 rockets which over a period of 11 days were fired by HAMAS towards Israeli communities. This week the Methodist Church conference in the UK is promulgating a false narrative about that operation and is calling for a boycott on Israeli goods and for the International community to recognise Israel as an “Apartheid State”. The conference is also accusing Israel of being responsible for the demise of Christian communities in areas governed by the Palestinian Authorities.
None of these accusations are in any form correct and bear no resemblance whatsoever to the truth. They are simply the sap of bitterness and hate which sadly feeds the rest of Christendom with that same bitterness and hate which the German Christian Church fed to Europe’s Christians from the 1920’s through to 1945. Then the German Christian Church promoted hatred of the Jews of Europe, which led to many of their congregants committing atrocities which resulted in the murder of six million innocent people. This pernicious narrative, created by many leaders in the traditional Churches today to incite hatred towards Israel and the Jewish people is a parcel of lies and is a resurgence of the Christian antisemitism which fuelled the Holocaust which is a stain not only on Europe but on Christendom itself.
If you are in a Church which is being fed by the sap of bitterness and hate towards Israel this is the time to be cut away from that damaging root and be grafted into the root of Israel and drink the nourishing sap spoken of by Paul which brings peace and reconciliation not division and hate.
Romans 11:17-18 (NIV2011)
17 If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot, have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root,
18 do not consider yourself to be superior to those other branches. If you do, consider this: You do not support the root, but the root supports you.

TO WHOM THIS MAY CONCERN
To whom it may concern....

Have you not considered that Jews are human beings? That they deserve the respect given to all other minorities. That abusing Jews is just as despicable as when, other minorities are abused.

That making false allegations against Jews cause’s incitement to hatred, an act which all other people groups are protected from.

Denying Jews a land on which to live according to their customs and religious practices is racist. That denying them the right to defend themselves when attacked is a denial of their human rights.

That calling them oppressors when they themselves are oppressed is unjust. By calling for sanctions against them when they uphold democracy in the midst of tyranny is mindless.

Are you so full of hatred that you are unable to see the strenuous efforts Israel’s scientists, medics, horticulturalist, technicians and industrialists make to ensure that advancements in all their fields are available for every nation on earth to take advantage of? Are you ignorant of the fact that Jews have faced 2000 years of persecution which today continues because you who this may concern, continue to hate. Yet in those 2000 years this small people group have brought to society wonderful music, art, inventions AND have given us Political / legal/ social and medical advancements all benefiting modern society and bringing YOU equal rights.

Is your heart so hard that when Jews are wrongly vilified during demonstrations on our streets or in our universities you turn your backs? If your heart is so hard that you don’t challenge your friends when they ridicule Jews or speak hatefully about them, then you to whom this may concern;

Don’t have the right to a defence when you yourselves are abused or when you are vilified.

AND

You don’t have the right to be supported or protected by the society in which you live and which Jews over the centuries have helped to create.

BUT the reality is through the commandments which God gave to Jews they have taught us that everyone including you, to whom this concerns, including Jews who you unjustly despise has the right to be defended, protected and supported.

WHY ARE OUR POLITICIANS SUPPORTING TERROR?
I am responding to recent a reports that some MP’s are seen as inciting hatred in their vocal support of HAMAS and support for those who instigated this last period of violence in Israel. I am an avid supporter of peace and equality amongst both Jews and Arabs and that is why I really find it difficult to accept that in just a few years Politicians in the UK have changed their stance on Israel and are supporting a Palestinian Arab leadership who oppose civil liberties and equality for all. Many in Parliament today are allowing other Parliamentarians and some Trade Unions to question the validity of a democratic state which they helped create and which if replaced would have devastating consequences for the Jewish people, for democracy and for the rights of Palestinian Arab women, freedom of speech for all and which would trash the concept of equality.
In this latest war Israel has again been forced to defend its citizens from a virulent, genocidal, widely acknowledged terror group HAMAS. To support HAMAS is also supporting the aims and aspirations of Iran which totally rejects human rights as is the case of Nazanin Zaghari- Ratcliffe and I am sure we all feel her case is a deplorable international scandal.
The facts speak for themselves and are clear for all to see that Israel would not have entered into this war were it not for HAMAS attempting to murder Jewish civilians by firing rockets indiscriminately towards Israeli towns and cities endangering the lives of both Jews and Arabs fulfilling not only their won genocidal aims but those of many other Islamic terror groups and of course Iran itself.
In 1917 the labour party fully supported the Balfour Declaration alongside the trade Union movement who embraced the ideas of Zionism from 1905 onwards and that was done in an effort to bring about equality for the Jews of Europe. In 1915, at the TUC congress, resolutions were unanimously adopted in support of both the political and civil rights of the Jewish people and a homeland for them in what was known as then as Palestine. Jews were being persecuted and oppressed and their civil liberties removed throughout Europe and Russia.

Israel has lived up to the expectations of those trade unionists who knew that Jews would uphold civil liberties in their own land, by firstly giving away 73% of the land previously promised by the declaration to attain peace all for peace and for giving Gaza away in 2005 in the name of peace, and for creating a democratic state which includes Arab Knesset Members and civil rights for all, except of course for those who abuse them such as HAMAS, which is the case in all democratic countries. What do we ourselves do with terrorists who bomb our social events or murder innocent people on our streets, we do everything possible to stop them.

The allegation today that Israel is an oppressive state is ironic as Arabs living in Israel have the freedoms which those Palestinian Arabs who live under Palestinian Arab authorities do not. In Gaza barbers cannot cut women’s hair, women cannot sunbath on the beaches in bikinis. Same s*x couples are executed and anyone caught making telephone call to Israeli’s are also executed. HAMAS have restored many of the tyrannical principles practiced by the Ottomans before 1917 and it is therefore Ironic that our Politicians seem to want Arabs to live under a similar oppressive leadership as both Arabs and Jews were during the Ottoman Empire.
Labour has faced the principles of freedoms for Jews previously, but this time they are selling out on their century old admirable efforts for freedom for the Jewish people and are now reversing what they put in place over 100 years ago.

In August 1917, Labour published its War Aims Memorandum which states;

“The British Labour Movement expresses the opinion that Palestine should be set free from the harsh and oppressive government of the Turk, in order that the country may form a free state, under international guarantee, to which such of the Jewish People as desired to do so may return, and may work out their salvation”. On 28th December 1917 700 delegates from the Labour party and trade Unions voted to accept this memorandum as their main party policy and I repeat their main party Policy”.

Socialists here in the UK saw their aspirations for the Jewish people reached in 1948 with the Independent state of Israel becoming a reality which incidentally included the land on which many labour activist’s today call occupied by Israel. Since that time Israel has upheld social democratic policies for all her citizens whether Arab, Jew, Christian or Muslim. The sad fact is that signs on entry into places like Bethlehem a Palestinian controlled area say that “Jews enter at their own risk” These things are ignored when the fact is that this is apartheid practiced by the Palestinian Authority, but strangely it is Israel who are accused of apartheid. Those who make these accusations against Israel are either totally ignorant of the facts on the ground or are simply Jew haters.

I am sure that many of those socialists who fought for the human rights of European Jewry during the First World War years would be proud of Israel’s achievements and the manner in which they view equality for their mixed racial and religious minorities-with nine Arab members in their Parliament being fine example. Arabs in Gaza and what is now called the West Bank have since 1948 had a far higher standard of living when living under Israeli governance than they ever have under Palestinian Arab governance. Between 1967 and 2005 Israel raised the standards for Palestinian Arabs living in Gaza. Who was it who put electricity into Gaza, sewerage and fresh water, Egypt didn’t it neglected Gaza. Israel gave rights to all those minorities in Gaza, but those have been removed by HAMAS since 2005. Strange thing is Israel still supplies utilities to Gaza, but HAMAS refuse to pay for them out of the aid that you and I give them.

I know I am pressing this point, but there are no freedoms for those ordinary people who live under Palestinian Arab leadership particularly HAMAS, so why do Labour party members in particular support such authoritarian corrupt Arab Authorities. Why do any Politicians favour Arab leaders who give minorities under their governance no hope of a future except one which teaches their young boys to shoot and to commit acts of su***de as a tool to murder Israeli’s? HAMAS has said last week that they have over 10,000 people ready to become su***de bombers in Israel so have our Politicians gone mad in supporting the creation of a state which will only become a centre for terror and injustice. So many Politicians fight for rights and equalities for British people but are ignoring the glaring fact that by supporting a Palestinian state they are condemning a people group to the same injustices which we here find deplorable. Please wake up Westminster and join with Israel firstly in its efforts for peace and secondly in its vision for a democratic state with equal rights for all.

I am a Christian Pastor and I am grateful to the Jewish people that the social standards which we uphold in this country and the rights of the individual come from their ethics and standards going back thousands of years. In Israel today they still uphold the rights of the individual to a fair hearing, to health care for all, justice and protection for minorities all things which their Arab neighbours don’t get because of their despot leaders.

I am a Welshman and proud of the fact that a Welsh Battalion fought in Gaza in 1917 to free that land from a tyrannical government. The Welsh division of Battalion 53 lost 297 soldiers in a battle at Gaza to free Gaza from a tyrannical government and now we see it being governed again by an oppressive and undemocratic terrorist leadership which clearly many MP’s support but Why? What did those soldiers die for? it was for the human rights of ordinary men and women? Today the people of Gaza, because of their leadership, have no rights and many in our government surprisingly support that situation so again I ask WHY!

Labour and many members of other parties have made it very clear that unlike their predecessors they have double standards when it comes to the Jewish nation. They don’t afford the Jewish people in Israel the rights that they favour for others. When they fight for a Palestinian Arab state they are fighting for a state which removes the rights and social standards for ordinary people and a state which will restore the inequalities identical to those created by the ottomans in the early 1900’s when Trade Unionists were fighting for the rights of Jews.

Palestinian Arabs live in poverty today because their leaders steal the charity given by the West. Millions of Euros have been stolen by their leaders who live in wealthy homes and circumstances whilst ordinary Arab people under their control suffer. They oppress their people and murder those who oppose them. If HAMAS, who are an extremely wealthy and well organised terror group really wanted to provide better conditions for their people they would stop trying to kill Israeli civilians and spend their time negotiating with Israel for a peace deal which didn’t involve the annihilation of Israel and every Jew who lives there. If Politicians want to be known as Socialists who fight for equal rights, respect for all and fairness and Justice stop supporting a tyrannical, despot Palestinian Arab leadership.

My great grandfather, Owen Daly, being a socialist activist and one of the founders of the boiler workers Union during the time of the Trade Union memorandum was being formed would have been one of those wonderful men in history who fought valiantly for the rights of people everywhere including Jews. He would have expected today that Trade Unions and the labour party in particular would still be fighting for equality and justice for all people including the Jewish people. He would never have expected that leaders of any socialist party today would be fighting for autocratic despot leaders who are vocal about destroying a people group who uphold and social justice.

I like my great grandfather also don’t expect Politicians to be so ignorant and so dismissive of a declaration which was made by Political leaders who had in their sights a homeland for a people group who at that time had no right of self-determination and who ultimately faced the worst genocide in the history of mankind.

I want to ask Politicians from every stream of Politics today to stop vilifying Israel. They should be supporting Israel when she is defending her citizens from another attempt of genocide and we should all be defending Israel’s rights and her goals of bringing about equality for all Arabs and Jews in the land the UK once created for that very purpose.

As I write 3,300 rockets have been fired towards Israeli civilian communities in the last two weeks. During the same period Israel have responded to these attacks by targeting the perpetrators only and not the civilians in Gaza. The purpose of Israel’s response to the rockets is, firstly to defend Israeli civilians and secondly to destroy the ability of HAMAS, the terrorist organisation who is leading the attack on Israel to fire the rockets at Israeli civilians. In short Israel wants to stop HAMAS because ultimately Israel wants peace and has always wanted peace.

I can confirm that fact, not just because I understand the situation and its history, but because Israel demonstrated her desire for peace when she made an agreement with the Palestinian leadership in Gaza in 2005 to evacuate the 21 Israeli communities which made up an in Gaza called Gush Katif from Gaza in return for peace. The Gush Katif Community of 8,600 residents actually employed 500 Palestinian Arabs, but were forced to leave their homes, businesses and synagogues because Terrorists in Gaza had murdered 47 of their community and rather than Israel attack the terrorists they made a deal with the Palestinian Arab Leadership that they would move out of land, which they rightly owned, in order that the terrorists in Gaza would stop killing Israeli civilians. That seems fair does it ??? The evacuation took place in August 2005 and in September the same year I went to meet those evacuees who were living in tents just outside of Sderot which is a small Israeli city only two miles from Gaza. I can confirm that these evacuees, although they didn’t want to, were willing to lose their homes, communities and occupations in exchange for peace and safety for themselves, their families and Israel.

However within just a few days of the evacuation terrorists from Gaza destroyed the homes and buildings which had been evacuated and began to fire rockets from those locations at the same civilians who had given up all to gain some stability in their lives. These terrorists not only broke the agreement with Israel, but also made it clear that their sole intent is to destroy the lives of innocent Israeli’s. That September I stayed in Sderot and experienced rockets hitting homes in destroying buildings and lives and I can give evidence of the damage and terror they caused to Israeli families and communities living around Gaza.

I have been in Sderot and the Kibbutzim’s around Gaza many times since 2005 during a number of major attacks on Israeli communities and I can confirm that Israel wanted none of the wars which in every case began with rockets fired from Gaza.
The terrorists in Gaza have never actually stopped attacking Israel since 2005 and what we see is simply isolated escalations of a constant trickle of rockets and mortars aimed at Israel over many years. HAMAS and Islamic Jihad supported by Iran are constantly firing mortars rockets and even tunnelling under Israeli communities aiming to kidnap civilians. We must not forget that mortars and rockets from Gaza have purposely killed Israeli children who have been playing in school play grounds or travelling home on their School bus.
I as a Christian Pastor I have always wanted to see Peace in Israel, but I have always been disappointed because peace cannot be on sided and no matter what Israel does, even as far as giving away communities and land, as they did with Gush Katif, HAMAS and those who support and stand with them only want war and the destruction of Israel.
This is therefore the time for Christendom to unify and condemn the aggressors and be on the side of the peacemakers Israel. If you speak up and pray for Israel you are a peacemaker and working towards seeing Israel living in peace.
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God”. Mathew 5 v 9.

Dear Rt. Hon Jeremy Corbyn MP,

Sir, I begin my letter by saying that I, as a socialist following in the footsteps of my parents and grandparents, am truly disappointed that you have not accepted invitations to any of the Balfour Celebrations taking place here in the UK.
