Before we think about what we can give to God, we need to remember what God has already given to us.

Jesus left the glory of heaven, took on the nature of a servant and gave His life on the cross.

The Bible tells us that although He was rich, He became poor for our sake.

Not so that we could become financially wealthy, but so that we could receive something far greater.

Forgiveness.
A place in God's family.
The gift of the Holy Spirit.
The promise of eternal life.

These are the true riches of God's grace.

Generosity begins when we recognise just how much we've already been given.

We can spend years of our lives working to acquire things that ultimately won't last.
And while money is necessary and can be used for good, Jesus challenges us to think carefully about the place it holds in our lives.
In Matthew 6:24, Jesus says:
"You cannot serve both God and money."
He doesn't say it's difficult. He says it's impossible.

The question isn't simply how much money we have, but how much influence it has over our decisions, priorities and hearts.
As the saying goes:
"Money is a useful servant, but a terrible master."
So here's a question worth reflecting on today:
Is money serving the purposes God has given you, or is it becoming the thing that directs your life?

How can you be generous when it feels like you have nothing to spare?

Fear, comparison and the pressure to have more can stop us from giving. But the Macedonian churches discovered a different way to live. Despite their poverty and challenges, they gave with joy because they had first given themselves to God.

Watch this week's message and be challenged to look at what God has already placed in your hands and ask how He might use it through a life of daring generosity.
