Dear all,
Following the recent fire at St Martin’s Church, we give thanks to God that the building has been preserved. Thanks to the swift actions of the emergency services and the support of volunteers, the fire was contained before it could reach the main body of this much-loved church.
While the cause of the fire remains inconclusive, there have been a number of concerning incidents in recent months, including vandalism to graves and damage to a window in the same area where the fire began.
We now ask, with humility and urgency, for the support of our local community.
If you live nearby or pass by the church grounds, please help us by keeping a watchful eye.
Should you notice anything unusual or suspicious, we kindly ask that you report it to the authorities.
St Martin’s Church is not only a place of worship, but a treasured part of our shared heritage—standing for over 300 years and holding deep meaning for generations. It is also closely linked to the traditions of the Fenny Poppers, making it a significant landmark in the life of Fenny Stratford.
Over the coming days, we will be working diligently to assess the full extent of the damage, carry out necessary safety checks, and put improved security measures in place.
Let us come together to protect and preserve this sacred and historic place, so that it may continue to serve as a home for worship and community life for many years to come.
“Laus Deo – Praised be to God.”
With thanks and every blessing,
St Martin’s Church, Fenny Stratford
