* PENTECOST *

Today is Pentecost - a major festival in the Christian Church's year. It marks fifty days since Easter, ten days since Ascension Day and brings the Easter season to an end.

The day of Pentecost is when Christians commemorate the day when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the disciples in Jerusalem, after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus had promised his followers that, although they would not see him after his Ascension, they would receive the Holy Spirit to guide and inspire them.

Christians mark this date as the beginning of the Christian Church as we know it.

Join us this morning at 9.45 am for our Parish Communion Service, where Sunday School will also be held.

*ASCENSION DAY *

Today is Ascension Day. It is the 40th day after Easter and the day that Jesus ascended into heaven in the presence of his disciples, after promising to send the Holy Spirit.
It marks the completion of Jesus' earthly ministry and signifies Jesus' exaltation and glorification.
It prepares Christians for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (which we celebrate in 10 days time).

Do come and join us in church this evening at 7pm for an Ascension Day Service of Holy Communion.

Our next Churchyard Working Party is this Saturday 9 May from 9.00 am - 12 noon.

There will be the usual coffee break at 10.30 am and a buffet lunch at 11.45 am.
