๐ŸŽถ Summer Praise at St Paulโ€™s Church ๐ŸŽถ

It was an evening of music, worship, and fellowship last night as part of Milngavie Week!

We were delighted to welcome Scottish hymnwriter Greg de Blieck and his band New Scottish Hymns for an inspiring concert of new Scottish hymns and worship music.

We hope you enjoyed the celebration of faith through song, bringing together fresh expressions of worship with the rich tradition of hymn writing.

A huge thank you to Greg, the band, and everyone who joined us for a memorable evening filled with joy, reflection, and praise. ๐Ÿ™โœจ

โœจ The Heart of Milngavie โœจ

Thank you to everyone who came along to our special thanksgiving service for the volunteers who help make Milngavie such a wonderful place to live!

This Sunday, Rev Lynsey Brennan invited us to reflect on the โ€œlensโ€ through which we see the world โ€” the beliefs and experiences that shape how we understand truth, purpose, identity, and meaning.

Looking at Acts 17, we were reminded how Paul entered Athens, a culture full of competing ideas and spiritual searching. Rather than beginning with criticism, Paul listened, observed, and built bridges. He recognised the questions people were asking and pointed them towards the living God.

A powerful reminder for us today: many people are still searching for hope, meaning, belonging, and purpose. The Gospel is not something to keep hidden away, nor something to force upon others, but good news to share with humility, grace, courage, and love.

Rev Lynsey encouraged us to consider:

๐Ÿ’ญ Am I listening well enough to notice where God is already at work?
๐Ÿ’ญ Am I sharing the hope of Jesus with both truth and kindness?
๐Ÿ’ญ How can I help others recognise that God may be nearer than they realise?

Just as Paul saw God already moving in Athens, we were reminded that God is already at work in our own communities - through acts of kindness, compassion, love, and the deep longing within us for something more.

โ€œFor in him we live and move and have our being.โ€ - Acts 17:28

To those who had never been to St Paul's before, we hope you felt at home! We would love to see you again and continue sharing this journey of faith together.

May we continue to be a people who point others towards the hope and love found in Jesus. ๐Ÿ™

Thank you to Rev John for leading our service this morning and welcome to Matthew Todd, our youth and children's assistant.

John was reminding us of the old testament story of Joseph - being hated by his brothers and badly treated in so many ways. There must have been times when he wondered why things were happening to him.

Our lives are full of ups and downs; at our lowest, we only see the tangled threads of our lives, but God sees the finished tapestry.

We might not understand why things happen, but as Christians, we trust that it is all part of God's good plan - moulding us into the image of Christ. ๐Ÿ™
