It’s Doors Open day at Baldernock this weekend. And, as a special bonus if you’re with us on Sunday 6th, the Tour de 4 will be passing the church and we’ll be laying on refreshments as the cyclists zoom by.

For those who haven’t heard of the Tour de 4, this is a fundraising cycle race created by Sir Chris Hoy to raise awareness around Stage 4 cancer, following his own diagnosis. There will be some famous faces in the peloton, including Sir Chris himself, Sir Jason Kenny, Dame Laura Kenn and Sir Steve Redgrave, not forgetting our very own Alison Hazell.

So come and visit our lovely wee church over the weekend, and maybe even catch a few celebrities whizzing by, possibly around 11ish.

Our minister Rev Lynsey Brennan will also be around on Sunday from 2-4pm (in the vestry) for anyone seeking prayer or a confidential space to talk. We know life can bring many trials and challenges but we also know the power of prayer. 🙏🏼 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Somewhat belatedly, we’re sharing this initiative from our sister church in Milngavie. This will be a weekly meet-up for families affected by autism who’ll come together each Friday between 1 and 2. There’s a lovely wee film to explain what it’s all about below.

Morning, all.

Ever wondered what the little Watch House beside some old churches was for? In the 18th and 19th centuries, people kept watch there to protect newly buried loved ones from grave robbers who stole bodies for medical research.

The Watch house at Baldernock will be open each Sunday through the Summer starting this Sunday and will finish with the Doors Open weekend in September when it will open on the Saturday and Sunday from Midday to 4.00pm.

All other Sundays the timing is 2.00pm to 4.00pm.

And for those interested in family history, we have a detailed record of all burials around the church going back over 200 years. Please ask our volunteers for more information.
