After an extended period without any, we now have Churchwardens! Sue and John were elected this morning to serve this building and the people of the parish with lots of applause and joy. We were also really happy to welcome Val to serve as a Deputy Churchwarden. It's been a beautiful Sunday here at The Ascension as we see our team grow and come together in a common purpose to love and serve Jesus and our community. Come along and see what we are all about!

Congratulations to Prince and Akachukwu who received God's blessing and dedicated their lives together to Him at a special Mass this morning. You go with the prayers of your Church family as you begin this exciting new chapter together.

Please pray for Prince and Akachukwu as they prepare to dedicate their marriage to God and receive His blessing at Mass tomorrow.

This evening we will be praying for all who are sick and those whe care for them. If you are unwell, isolated or simply tired there is a welcome here with the God who promises to be with us in our sufferings. You don't need to have been before, know what you're doing, or even why you have come. God has a place for you here, come home and see how he wants to work in your life. The Church is found on Penrith Road, TS3 7JR.

Pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham 2027

We are organising a parish pilgrimage to Walsingham next year from Friday 15th October to Sunday 17th October.

Those interested in attending are invited to give their names to Father Gareth a.s.a.p. with a deposit of £40.

The approximate cost will be £165 for half board, on top of which will be the cost of the coach once that has been ascertained.

It will be wonderful to restore pilgrimage as part of the life of the parish after a gap of some years, and it is being looked forward to greatly!

We will be joining Fr. Tom Bates-Bourne and his people from St Mark's and St Peter's Church, Thornaby on Tees for this.

The photo is from a previous pilgrimage Fr. Gareth took with his curacy parishes.

Tomorrow morning at 9.15 in the Lady Chapel a short, reflective Requiem Mass will be held to pray for the soul of Fr. David Hodgson in this 10th anniversary year of his death. Fr. David was the priest responsible for the building of the current Church and his example and his love for this place and its people is remembered with much love.
