St Oswald's and St Chad's, Middlesbrough A church for the people of Grove Hill, Beechwood and Saltersgill in Middlesbrough

07/09/2026

The kettle is on, oven ready to go and we are excited to kick off the new school year here at our Baby Brunch group.

We meet Mondays during term time for parents with little ones (preschoolers) 10 - 11am in St Oswald's warm room, where you would usually wait to go through for your Eco Shop.

Why not pop along this morning to meet other local parents over a cuppa and start the week with something for you 🧡💜

GATHER TO PRAY FOR TEESSIDE

This has been an incredibly difficult week for Teesside.

Our communities have been shaken by tragic deaths, serious violence, crime and events that have made national headlines. Families are grieving. Our police and emergency services are under enormous pressure. Many across our towns are understandably feeling shocked and unsettled.

On the very same week, churches across Teesside have come together to launch Bible Conversations, inviting thousands of people to encounter the Bible and discover Jesus.

For many of us as church leaders, this feels like a particularly important moment to PRAY.

Scripture reminds us:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…” — Ephesians 6:12

One of our most important responses to moments like this is to pray and to ask God to bring his light, hope and blessing across Teesside.

There are TWO opportunities for Christians from across Teesside to gather and pray:

FRIDAY 28 AUGUST; 7.30PM ONLINE

Join Christians from across Teesside on Zoom to pray for our area.

PRAY FOR TEESSIDE
St Barnabas Church

Christians from every church and tradition are invited to gather together.

We will pray for those who are grieving and afraid; for our police, emergency services and civic leaders; for peace and an end to violence and crime; and for God’s protection and blessing over our communities and we will pray that in the middle of darkness many people would encounter the hope and light of Jesus.

Please SHARE this with your church, small groups and Christian friends.

Remember, tonight there is no Hope@St Chad’s.

The next time we won’t have a Thursday evening service will be 31st December, so it doesn’t happen very often!

Thanks for to everyone for hanging round after Hope@St Chad's to set up the baptism pool for Sunday morning (and thanks to Christ Church and St George's Eston for lending us their baptism pool). If you've ever thought about baptism why not come along at Sunday on 10.30am to see what happens at one and why people get baptised?

Today we’ve had the first two opportunities to have a Bible Conversation about Luke’s gospel. These are a chance for anyone to ask any question about Luke’s story of Jesus’s life. In the Autumn we’ll be running more of these and advertising them so anyone can join. If you want a copy of Luke’s gospel so you can read it, come grab one from either church
