ANNUAL PAROCHIAL CHURCH MEETING
SUNDAY 19th MAY 2024 AFTER THE 10AM SERVICE
AT ST LAWRENCE CHURCH

INVITATION
The purpose of the meeting is to:
 Approve the minutes of last year’s meeting
 Report any changes to the electoral roll including current numbers on roll
 Receive the PCC Annual report
 Receive the PCC financial report
 To receive and approve the accounts
 Elections of:
o PCC members
o Deanery Synod Representatives
o Churchwardens (this will take place at the Vestry Meeting which will precede the APCM)
 Appointment of:
o Licensed Lay Minister
o Independent examiner/auditor for 2024
 Forum for questions relating to the content of the annual report and financial report.
 A report upon the fabric, goods and ornaments of the church (usually included within the annual report)
 A report on the activities of the PCC
 Any other matters of parochial or general Church interest
 Parish charity report
Who can attend?

The Vestry Meeting (which precedes the annual meeting) to elect Churchwardens: All persons,
(a) whose names are entered upon the church electoral roll of the parish, or
(b) are resident in the parish and whose names are entered on a register of local government electors by reason of such residence, are entitled to attend and vote at the election of churchwardens.

The Annual Meeting: Persons are entitled to attend the annual meeting and take part in its proceedings if their names are on the church electoral roll.

How could I help with the management of the church?
We currently have vacancies for churchwarden, PCC Secretary, PSO (Parish Disclosure Officer) and PCC Members. If you would like to be involved in St Lawrence Church, please contact Revd. Gary Townsend who will be happy to share more information with you regarding these roles.
We hope you can join us and look forward to joining us to discuss matters regarding the direction and growth of your church.

Congratulations to Peta Tiptaft and Mark Siggers who recently received this year's gift from the Lady Le Despencer fund in recognition of their services to the community of Mereworth. Well done Peta and Mark and thank you. Anyone wishing to know more about the Lady Le Despencer fund should visit Mereworth church and read the large memorial plaque situated the church on the north wall at the back near the vestry.

A lovely circular walk today with the Mereworth Village Walking Group through the East Malling Research Station and surrounding areas. An added bonus was that we waited at East Malling Station to see the Golden Arrow steam train come through on its trip from London to Canterbury.
